Tell everyone to just leave me alone!!!! I feel like I shouldn't have told my parents, they are driving me crazy. My mom is calling me every few days to "see how I'm doing." I'm pregnant not sick! And every time I'm on the phone with her she always trails back to my birth....that's about the time I say "gotta go, bye" and just hang up. I'm sorry, but this isn't my first and I'm sick of hearing for the thousandth time how I made my entrance.

My dad is just loony, I tell him and the first thing he says is "don't let any of those kids you teach punch you in the stomach." um....excuse me? First off, if a student assaults a teacher they get suspended, if not worse. And, second, if that student's actions caused me to have a miscarriage I would be seeking legal counsel. But, it made me so mad I just got off the phone because I was going to explode. Oh, and without talking to me about it, he told DS that we were going to Chuck E Cheese for his birthday. And I had to tell my dad in front of DS "no, that's not what we're doing for his birthday. DH and I are taking him to lunch and the zoo. JUST US!"

Oh and my divorced parents want to take me out for my bday on Wednesday. Going out to eat with my mom is stressful enough as it is. She never orders anything on the menu, always has to ask for like a hundred extra things, and then gripes about everything. If we have the money I'll give DH an extra $10 to slip to the waiter as an apology. Plus, then there's the awkwardness between my parents and step-parents. So, I said thanks, but no thanks.....and, all of a sudden "oh, well I'm sorry you're feeling so bad that you don't want to go out for your birthday" I'm not feeling bad I just don't want to go anywhere because all y'all will do is aggravate me and I will leave before my food gets to the table. Oh, and not to mention I'm about to be 26...I'm an adult, I don't need my parents to take me out for my birthday. I'd rather have a night at home with MY family.

Maybe DH was right, maybe it was a bad idea to move closer to them....I just don't understand how they can be so....so....ugh, I don't even have a word they just baffle me. I'm just ready to scream at both of them and not see them for a while....like when they wrote me off for 2 years while I was in college. It was so much easier then.

I feel your pain. Trust me!

I work for my parents and sometimes spending time with them outside of work drives me up a wall. I see them everyday, so it makes it hard. We try to establish a relationship that isn't just "co-workers" but it has been challenging.

I hope they back off a bit and give you your space. Hopefully sooner than later they give you some breathing room....nothing makes you want to distance yourself more than people who smother!

I am sorry you have to go through all of this. Family is often more stressful than anything! Keep your chin up buttercup, take a family vacation away from them for a little bit. Meaning don't visit lol

Sounds like how DH's parents used to be (and can still be sometimes). MIL talks about his birth and childhood ALL the time (he's an only child). I now have just learned to smile and say "yep!" I think they're just trying to relate sadly. But keep your chin up!! They love you!

And that is exactly why I love 1300+ miles from all my family (it is hard sometimes but then I remember what they are like!) and also why I have not yet told them I am expecting again.
