I just heard back from pharmacy and they ok'ed the free breast pump for me after talking to my insurance. The only pump I will get is the AMEDA Truly Yours. I only ever used the Medela Pump in Style and swear by it. Anyone tried the AMeda?? Did you like it?? I guess when you get something for free I shouldn't complain???? Just had my heart set on the MP'nS and got all Medela bottles and accessories.

I'm no help. I had the Medela that I bought with #4, and I'll be re-using it again.

I have no experience with it. I went with the Medela as the nurses at the NICU specifically said to get a Medela and stay away from Ameda, BUT I've heard many amazing reviews from moms who have used the Ameda.

You can use the medela bottles with the ameda. With my first two I exclusively pumped - first for almost 16 months, second for 9 months until I got preggo and the pump felt like someone was twisting my nipples off. hah

The pros to the ameda is that you can switch up the suction rate unlike the medela which just has the let down phase button. You control much more with the ameda. I found my breasts responded best to a mixture so I use my ameda purely yours at my computer, had my pump in style set up in the bedroom and another pump in style for back and forth work pumpings.

The biggest pro to the ameda is that it is truly a closed system - there is absolutely no risk of transfer or milk contamination into the pump. The medela can and has been known to get mold build up behind that little yellow circle in the front that covers the motor. I highly recommend youtubing how to pop it off and clean it up and santitize it before reusing for the next child if you still have it. Even if you were the only one to use it ever.

But yeah I love my purely yours - comes with a travel bag and such as well too. The PIS is much more convenient for on the go pumping though

I use the AMeda Purely Yours. I love it. I have only used the Medela hospital pump and I found them comparable. I do find it easier to clean the Ameda.

Ive heard good things about the ameda. . I used one for a couple weeks after my first, but that was almost five years ago in the sleep deprived recesses of my mind..
