I'm pretty sure I had no Braxton Hicks or practice contractions with my daughter. I was induced at 41 weeks and had my first contractions then.
I haven't had any this pregnancy yet either, so if I do have contractions at any point I'm probably going to presume it's the real deal. Is there a way to know the difference? I don't want to look silly by going in at the first sign of pain.

I'm a FTM but was told real contractions get longer, stronger and closer together. But also to trust my body. I'd call if you're nervous.

When in doubt, get checked. With my son and daughter I went full term, no contractions until I went into labor. This pregnancy has been quite the opposite! I went into labor -at 22 weeks I think- because of a BV infection. I had to spend the night in the hospital and go on antibiotics. I would still get contractions after that cleared up, some days more than others.

The past few days I have had a ton of contractions and was admitted to the hospital again. No infection this time, but I am not quite 34 weeks and dilated 2 cm and 50 percent effaced. They had to give me two kinds of meds to get the contractions to slow down and I am doing two doses of steroids to help mature my baby's lungs. I hope they let me out today, because it has slowed way down.

Always get checked; it may be nothing but it could be serious, too.
