I'm going to a new OB GYN group than my past gyno. She's wonderful, but she only delivers at a certain hospital here that is infamous for horrible birthing environment and rude service. I can't bring myself to have that experience. I have an appt with my new OB group on May 14- ill be 5 weeks 5 days. What should I expect then? I don't want to get my hopes up. All the woman on the phone said is that I'll be with an OB coordinator.

I'm not terribly sure myself. I got instructions to have a full bladder at the appointment, and then to bring water to drink because I will have another urine test before I leave. I suspect there will also be blood tests, a physical exam, and general instructions/what to expect for husband and myself. I also have to bring any medication I've been using (so in my case, just my prenatals).
They said it was going to be about two hours long. YIKES!
Mine is the day after yours. Argh, I can't wait!
Thanks to *Vicki* for an AMAZING siggy

Lurking. Go expecting a pap smear and possibly a breast exam. Right after you walk in you will be told to pee in a cup. Then you wait for all the "fun." You'll probably be sent for blood work right after. My first appointment took maybe an hour, but I had the meeting, the exam, the blood work, and u/s.
Good move going to a better hospital. I was going to a wonderful doctor before, but the staff at her hospital were horrific. My first birth was no less than birth rape. My last one was at a hospital with wonderful nurses. I wasn't as comfortable with my OB, but all she did was catch the baby and stitch me up. She was nice enough, but my previous OB was awesome. I would go for the better hospital and nurses every time!
I'm expecting a urine test, bloodwork, and general check-up at mine. Hopefully no pap smear, since I just had one in February. They might do an ultrasound if you're far enough along (usually around 7 weeks, since that's about the earliest they can get a good solid heartbeat).
My first apt for my last pregnancy they did a pap smear and std tests they did a vaginal ultrasound to measure my baby and check to see if their was a heartbeat.. I forget if they took urine the first time, I think they did just not sure, also I got bloodwork done..Other then that I don't think there was anything else too too important.
