This time it was with the new cardiologist. I absolutely LOVE her. I finally got some answers that my perinatal office has been dragging around with. First off all. I have to stay on lovenox injections That's the bad news. They are switching my OB and office. Its ok news. They will be moving me to the office closer to the hospital and coordinating services with the cardiologist and an Anti-coagulation specialist (basically someone who specializes in managing my shots and the coumadin that I will eventually return to) The advantage is that they are all going to work together so I can see all three of these people one the same day instead of driving the two hours to Duke every other week.

I also found out that they will be inducing me at 38 weeks. I am happy to know when and what will happen but I am not happy about an induction, especially one so early. How she explained it to me is that toward the end I will have to switch medications and while I am in labor I will need to be off all my anti-coagulation medicines for a time frame, so it is really important to be able to limit the amount of time I am not on medication because that is when I am at the greatest risk of forming clots in my valve. Pretty much I am going to be a timer. But barring complications I won't need a c-section which is what my regular cardiologist thought I would need. I will have both my OB and the cardiologist at the hospital when I deliver so I feel pretty confident about that.

The cardiologist has delivered several women with artificial valves and she said that very few had complications and the ones that did started out weaker than me. She said that with my heart being strong and me being healthy that she felt confident that I will have this baby with very few complications

Overall I am satisfied with the pure amount of information and answers that I have.
