What items do you feel that Baby needs?
What were some things you couldn't live with out?
What are some items everyone else says you need, but you feel like you really don't?

All the stuff I personally consider needs after my first:

Crib
Mattress
Waterproof mattress pad
Sheets
Blankets
Humidifier
Infant carrier &stroller
Dresser for baby clothes (we use one from
ikea that is the *perfect* height to also be a changing table and it is only $99!)
Changing pad w/cover
Diapers
Diaper Pail
Wipes
Wipes warmer (I know I know, I'm in the minority but my daughter seemed to love warmed wipes!)
Wipes warmer replacement cushion thingys
Glider & ottoman
breast pump
Breast milk bags
Nursing bras/shirts
Bottles
Bottle warmer
Bottle cleaning stuff
Papasan cradle swing
Vibrating lamb chair
Baby tub
Aveeno lotion/bathing
hooded towels

I don't know if this is controversial, but with my daughter, who was an excellent nurser right from birth, we actually had to use one of the tiny newborn formula bottles My pediatrician gave us as a starter kit. When my milk fully came in, the 2nd day we were home, it freaked her out and she refused to eat and then i quickly became engorged so my breasts/areoles were full and solid which compounded the issue. I didn't know how to use my pump (I honestly think we forgot about it from exhaustion) so we had to give her one newborn formula bottle.

My point! I was grateful to have that starter Kit of formula even though I planned to exclusively give breast milk. After the formula, she went to sleep, we figured out the pump, and then Lillian started nursing again. And we never had to use formula again. I guess I'm saying you just never know, doesn't hurt to have it on hand even if you never plan to use it.

Diapers
Clothes
Bottles and formula
Sterilized
Pacis
Moses basket
Cot
Bedding for cot and Moses basket
Baby bath
Blankets
Pram
Baby carrier
Vibrating baby seat
Playmate
High chair
baby walker
Bibs
I think that's about it. I don't use changing mats or tables. I bought a second hand bumbo for Alex and felt it was a waste of money. I wouldnt use hooded towels only my mil is obsessed with buying them. I think bottle warmers are a waste of time. I just put bottles in a jug of hot water.

Diapers
Wipes
Clothes
Destin
Receiving blankets or swaddle me wraps
Car seat Car seat cover blanket
Infant car seat insert
Bouncer
Swing
Paci
Moby wrap or carrier
Crib w/ mattress and a sheet

Everything can wait for later. Bedding, high chair, walkers, jumpers... Etc are all months away. I don't use changing stations. I did with my first but after that, with multiple kids, it makes it easier just to do it on the floor or bed... We have this waterproof pad we lay down.

Crib, dresser, diaper pail, stroller, car seat, bottles, diapers clothes, blankets, lotions, toys
What were some things you couldn't live with out?

What are some items everyone else says you need, but you feel like you really don't?
Wipe warmers, jumper/walker toys, pacfiers (unless my kid happens to be super orally fixated.) My sister and i wouldnt take them as babies though. But i still might try with my little one

Recalling what we needed for Will.....
Car seat
Car seat cover for winter months
Diapers
Wipes
Clothing
Boobs or Formula
Bottles
Hand pump (Never know when you will have to pump and dump)
Crib
Fitted Sheets (at least 2)
Thin Blankets (I treat them like they are disposable, although I do wash/reuse them)
Waterproof Mattress Cover (Trust me you want two)
Stroller
Dresser, or small cheap Walmart Plastic Dresser
Mesh Bag/ Lingerie Bag to wash socks/mittens/hats in
Hats
Small file/nail clippers
Thermometer
Baby Shampoo
Baby Powder
Desitin (Or Fanny Cream from the pharmacy!)
Baby Bath or other safe way to bathe...
That nose sucker thing.
Pack and Play with bassinet (We traveled a lot!!)
Pacifier
Monitors (Helped us sleep, since we didn't sleep with with Baby in the room)
Swing
Bumbo
Bibs
High Chair

A lot of people recommended a bouncy chair, but we never really cared for it. I did use it occasionally, but not enough to buy one. Now if someone gives me one, we'll use it for this baby. Also I found the Diaper Genie pretty useless. I am too cheap to buy the refills. I found a small lidded can worked well, and eventually just gave up completely and started using the kitchen trash since its changed daily anyways.

Diapers, wipes, heavy-duty Desitin (seriously, stock up!)
Crib, sheets (multiple, sometimes you'll change them twice a day, sometimes once a week)
Boobs/breast pump and/or formula
Swing
Pack n play -- good for the living room, or traveling
Stroller - the kind that you can put your infant carrier on is nice
Car seat/infant carrier with one base per vehicle
Pacifier
Care kit - safety clippers, nose sucker. Don't worry about medicine syringes, I got one from CVS every time I got a prescription
Baby soap
Thermometer - Remember to keep it away from your thermometers!

I also used the formula starter kit the first few days because my husband was paranoid that Kelen was starving before my milk came in. Then *BOOM*, I had so much I was pumping and freezing. For me, I think it helped nipple confusion that I was using a nipple shield, but I won't need it this time around.

What we needed for Gary:
Diapers/Wipes
Butt cream
Boob/Formula
Bottles
Crib sheets
Bouncy seat/swing or both (we used both)
Plain onesies
Blankets / Hats for going out in the cold
Carseat
Stroller
Soap
Wash cloths
Baby tub
pacifiers (if you use them)
Socks

What we didnt need that everyone told us to get and we didnt lol:
Bumbo (although we already got a second hand one for this kid)
Wipe warmer
Diaper Genie (garbage with a lid works fine, just empty it and you're good lol)
Those mittens that go on their hands

I am probably forgetting stuff in both categories. But you get it.
