It didn't go great. My veins are really bad. On the 4th try she tried to flush the cannula through and squirted me right in the face with the salt water. 5th try they finally managed to get the vein. So that was fine. Then half way through the drip the midwife came over and asked if I was ok. So I said yes except could I have something for this itching. I was itching all over. So they had to turn it off. So I have 4 weeks to get my levels up otherwise I need a blood transfusion

Hate this didnt go well. I will keep you in my Thoughts & Prayers.

I found some information on Iron Rich foods maybe you can supplement your diet with a lot of these foods and that will help.

Bummer! Sorry it didn't go well dear, I can't believe there is someone out there with veins worse than mine!Did they say the itch was a side effect of the iron infusion?

Ugh i am so sorry to read that update! I really hope that all goes well, BUT if you need a blood transfusion, just remember its okay and people get them all the time. I have had quite a few over the years for various problems Hang in there!

Ye i know. If I need it doing then I will get it done. It's just well it's a bit gross isn't it. And I know they test the blood it I still worry they might have missed something

I know exactly how you feel. I go through this problem every time I have to have a CT scan. I wind up in tears, and wrapped up in blankets, shaking. They have to wheel me around until the CT scan is over and I finally calm down a little.

Really for days? I'm still itchy today. When I got itchy I just thought they would give me some antihistamine and carry it on.
