OKay. . . these is going to sound extremely stupid. But i read people going to "WIC appointments" whaaaat is that? Like the program WIC, where you get food and stuff? I am super confused about it. Maybe I should just google it but since I am here right now, figured I would ask. . .

It stands for Women Infants and Children. It is a government program. They check your health and have a dietician to help with meal questions. Pregnant women and children until age 5 qualify. You get food vouchers for things like cheese, cereal, juice, fresh fruit, beans, and the big one milk. I think I get like 4 gallons of milk a month plus DD gets 4 so it really helps us out. After baby is born, if you nurse you can still get it for a while and get different foods. If you use formula they pay for it. It is a pretty good program and the income limits are relatively high for families... so most people qualify. The appts are at your local health dept. My only downfall is our HD is so over crowded that the Appts usually take a couple hours, but you only have to go every 3 months.

You should reapply or go on your local Health Department Website now that your preggers the income is higher for you to qualify! Never hurts to try! Its a great program I get 2 $5 vouchers each month for fresh fruits/veggies milk eggs cheese ceral beans peanut butter and whole grain bread or tortias (sp) It comes in really handy and now after you have the baby and you hit the age requirement for baby to get babyfood you get vouchers for that and the formula!

I checked again. It's the household income. Def dont qualify. We will be ok too. But we have rough months too so it would be nice. Either way I myself without hubbys pay am over. But our mortgage us high bc of taxes going up so that's what gets us. Oh well we will be ok.

I wasn't eligible last time with a lower income, so definitely not eligible now. Dangit, I could use some free food!

Right. We struggle a lot yet, we don't qualify! So not helpful. lol

Oh well we did it with Gary on less money so we will make it work this time, too bad the killer is childcare but staying home isn't an option here

We qualified for wic thankfully. My youngest and I. Its super helpful with such a large family. Every little bit helps. It just really sucks that people who could use help now and then can't qualify just because they go a a tad over the limit....omg so not gonna get started on my thoughts on the system lol

With my son, We got pregnant while Hubby was in Basic Law Enforcement Training. We had no income in the 3 months before and the month we got pregnant. We qualified for WIC and medicaid for the duration of the pregnancy, even after he started working. At that time once you qualified you stayed qualified.

The system is definitely flawed. After my DH passed away even with only my income, which was not much, we didn't qualify for anything. We we about $50 over the limit for insurance and FS. We struggled for a long time because I had to pay bills we had made on tripple the monthly income.

I lost my job of 8 years in May so right now my girls have Medicaid and we qualify for WIC. Before I was paying $350 a month for insurance and $90 a week for child care. So not worth the time away from my kids.
