Let me start by saying I hate my tonsils! Seriously. I think they contribute to my extremely sensitive gag reflex. They both have a hole in them in the front that I can see and food is constantly getting stuck in the holes, causing me to feel like I am choking. I also think food gets stuck in the back too, although not as often, but the choking from that is 100x worse. If I use a toothbrush to get food out I make myself sick. I tend to get sore throats easily and they swell often. I really really really want to get a doc to take them out but I know its not normal to do it for adults. So what are the odds I can talk someone into doing it?
Thank you *Kiliki* for once again doing such amazing work on a siggie
I can do all things through Christ which Strengtheneth me. (Phil 4:13)
I think pretty good if they are affecting you that much! I would totally get them out (i still have mine but they dont cause too much of an issue, even though they are gargantuan). That sounds awful though Hope you can get it taken care of post baby!!
My sister was getting tonsillitis no joke like 6-10 times a year. It was almost every month for a few months.
She finally went to a specialist that agreed she needed to have them out.
She said recovery was the worst week of her life though. They typically don't remove them on adults because the recovery process is so horrible.
You just need to keep track of all the problems your tonsils have been causing you and REALLY push your doctor. My sister kept asking and asking and her doctor ignored her. Finally my dad got pissed off and accompanied my 22 year old sister to the doc's to put his foot down on her behalf. Doctor finally listened and sent her to a specialist who agreed right away that they needed to come out.
My sister had the same problem as you. She eventually convinced her doctor to send her to a specialist who agreed to take them out as soon as he saw them. She did say recovery was horrible though. She also took her kids (I think one was 7 and one was 5 at the time) but they both recovered really fast and didn't seem to think it was a big deal at all.
I have holes in mine too. Which sometimes bugs me. I usually stick my fingers back there to get it out. But since I've gotten pregnant it doesn't seem to be as bad. Thank goodness because it used to be really gross. If I didn't notice the food and it stayed back there for a couple days when I got it out it used to smell horrible! Like so bad it made me want to throw up. Once I have this baby I still plan on going to see a specialist since I think its pretty gross.
