Hey all as we approach summer (it's not completely here up in MN) I start thinking about my canning.

Do any if you can? What do you can?

I want to learn, my MIL is a canning queen. I make cake-in-a-jar and that's as fun as I get

We grow tons of veggies. The only thing that we can is pickles though. I would love to make a raspberry jelly or jam, but not sure that I will.

oh I wish with how often we move we don't get to have a garden nor is it feasible to have a big storage of food. I grew up canning all summer long. All kinds of jams and jellies, canned peaches, pears, greenbeans, home made pickles, salsa, tomato soup(180 quarts of it, lol). Plus we'd freeze apple slice candy, fresh berries, corn off the cob, etc.

I can't wait until we settle down out of the military and I can do all that again

Wow all of that sounds so good. I wish I knew how to can. I live in the woods so I don't have a good place for a garden either. I suppose I could buy extra fresh food from the farmers market and can that? I am afraid I'll do it wrong and make everyone sick.

Gretchen you could totally do it from extra farmers market purchases.

I make up a mean batch of pickled northern. I do salsa, apple sauce, apple butter and one round of Jam. I'm thinking of going all out this year with veggies and fruits.

A friend of dh, grandmother passes away and she has HUNDREDS of jars. No one in his family wants them so he said I can have them in trade of a batch of applesauce lol
