Okay, no one hurt me please for mentioning Christmas already! I'm not asking anyone to out up a tree or start decorating yet, but my hubs and I are *hopefully* going to take some pictures for a Christmas card soon and I was trying to come up with some cute ideas. Of course I jumped in Pinterest to find some inspiration, but there aren't a ton of "couples" cards out there (though I guess I could sub our cute doggie in for some of the couples with baby images, but I dunno if the hubs will go for it - or the dog sit still long enough for them!). I just love cute Christmas pictures!

So do any of you have any favorite Christmas picture poses or ideas you are or have used for your families?

I custom make our cards every year, plus about 10 other peoples designs, so trust me, I won't hurt you...considering I have rough designs worked up already.

We're going out Monday for our Christmas Card shoot I think if I can figure out where I want to go. Let me see if I can find some of the designs I've done for us in past years and edit them quick and will share them.

Okay: this variation I've done twice- once our first year of marriage, the next our 5th year. I've used shoots from actual sessions and just snapshots. We always send a letter with our christmas card too and I designed it to match

This was last year's card. it was a 4x8, with just the center chunk showing on the front and then the writing was out letter on the back that matched.

I'm not sure what size I am doing this year..going to depend on what suits my mood once I get it! either 5x7 or 4x8 again I think.

Oh gosh, those are such cute cards Jen! I love them both, they are so creative and beautiful!!! I am just at a loss of thinking up picture ideas. We have a fairly good camera to get the pictures with, but just thinking of ideas for the "shots" is the hard part. I was thinking of going up to the national park by us - they have lots of snow already, so the pictures would be very winter-y. We just aren't much of picture takers really, so we don't have a ton of pictures from this year to use - we should probably get better at that part, haha, our parents always want pictures of us anyways!

Thanks so much for the ideas! Your cards are beautiful! <3

I was just thinking about this today. I don't want to just buy cards from the store, but I don't want pictures of us either. LOL. I'll try and get some scenic shots this winter, and maybe some of our tree so I can use it next year.

Jen, I adore your cards. Your DSD looks so much like you!

I haven't given too much thought to our cards yet, but I guess I need to get busy and think of something!

thanks Melissa! I hear that all the time and it's so surprising lol! She's a senior in high school and already getting her college acceptance letters. it makes me feel so old!!!

I am pleased with how our first round of pics turned out, but I'm wanting to do another round in different outfits...mostly because I can't decide what christmas kit I want to use for our cards this year, lol!

OOoh, I will have to look at those poses again when I get on my computer at home! We had a couple of holiday craft fairs going on this weekend, and this one booth had these cute little painted blocks with letters on them so you could spell out whatever word you want and I got some that I am hoping to try to incorporate some way into our pictures! (I am posting a picture below, but I am not sure how posting pictures to the JM boards works, so I hope this works out. Otherwise I will try to post it again later.)

We got letters to spell out our last name, snow, love, and xoxo. We have made plans to go with some other friends to take pictures next Saturday up in the park in the snow, so it should be a fun day! We are going to help our friends take some holiday pictures for them too, so I think we will have fun no matter how the photos turn out!

those are so cute! It's not very seasonal where I live(like, I wore a sweater for the photos and was dying after ten minutes) so its hard to do fun photos.

I thought so too, I am in love with the letters and now want so many more to decorate for all the holidays!!! While it is somewhat seasonal where I am (tends to be more grey winter than other seasons), I am excited to get up into the park where I know they've gotten some nice snow already and take some "winter-y" pictures! My hubs and I aren't very good at posing for pictures (always look a little forced if that makes sense), and my friends that are coming with us are more going to make sure the camera doesn't fall over once I have it set up for my pictures, so haha, we thought the cute letters might take the pressure off of us not being so photogenic. I don't think we are even going to dress up cute or nothing - we don't really have much "cute" winter clothes. I am betting the hubs will wear his favorite sweatshirt and bring his winter coat along as a back up outfit (haha!) and for me it will be a couple winter coats and a sweatshirt as well. We definitely are very low key, laid back people when it comes to clothes, oh well!

haha, our winter gear was my new favorite lightweight shrug sweater over a tanktop and jeans, and DH just wore a polo and jeans. we're not dressy people either.

We suck at photos too, my all time favorite photos of us are from a family session a few years ago where the photographer was a friend, and kept cracking us up the entire time and my stepkids and I couldn't stop singing random disney songs.

I miss montana weather! I grew up in that area of the country and lived for a summer outside of yellowstone working. sigh.

Yeah, it takes a bit to put us at ease, but my favorite pictures of us are from our wedding. Beside them being from our wedding of course, we had some friends doing the pictures and they just put us at ease so easily! We would love to get holiday photos from them, but they aren't local, so it is a no go this year. We will just see what happens - hopefully we get some good ones!

I am from CA originally, so MT definitely has more seasons for me and I love them! I have never regretted my move up here (for various reasons), but the seasons and the snow are some of them! My hubs and I are some of the very few here that look forward to the snow of winter, but we do love it! I love summer up here as well, and while Fall is really my favorite season of all time, I am so excited to take pictures in the snow!!!

So my computer is being mega slow tonight, blah, but here are a couple of pictures we took today. Our friends were going to come with us so we could take some pictures, but one of them got sick this week, so we just went ourselves and tried to make do with the timer thingee on the camera and a bit of running around! We had a great time though, and lots of laughs even though our legs got a bit numb at the end, but I think we got a few pics to work with and maybe we will make it out again - we'll see!

Thanks! We had fun playing in the snow for these. Made a nice morning of the whole thing so it was worth it.
