So this year, DH and I swore up and down that we were staying home, just the two if us with the two dogs and the cat, to enjoy a nice quiet Christmas for the first time ever.
Well, how many of you think that actually happened?? Nope! No sir-ree! Somehow we ended up driving everywhere to see everyone! To put into this perspective, we live in a small town kind if in the middle of all of our families. My brother, his wife and my new baby nephew all came down from out west to stay at my mom's for the holidays, so of course we ended up there. Then, we drove out to DH's parents' place over two hours away as they decided last minute that it would be fun to invite a ton of extended family members over for a ten year reunion, so of course we had to go so that I could meet the ones I hadn't met yet and will most likely never see again! That was a day trip I wouldn't mind "forgetting"! Why do people seem to drive like maniacs at Christmas time??? Oh, then we ended up in another province to visit DH's other sister, her hubby and our little niece and nephew. That was another day trip, but was much more chill and relaxed - we actually had a fab time and I got some much-needed bonding time with my SIL. AND THEN, it was back to my mom's again for more Christmas eats and family visiting.
Like, wow! Next time DH says he wants to stay home for Christmas I'll make sure the fridge is pack full of beer... No way he'll leave the house then!
