2 cups Dark Brown Sugar
2 large eggs
11/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 cup shortning (this is not something you can lower or substitute on)
1 cup chopped nuts or coconut (semi-ground)
1 1/2 tsp cream of tarter
3 1/2 Cups flour
Cream sugar and shortning together, add beaten egg and dry ingredients.
Put on a board and knead, shape into a roll and wrap with waxed paper, cover rolls with a moist tea towel and let stand in a cool place overnight.
Slice (1/4" thick or less) thin, and put on pan and bake at 375 degrees until done. Approx 3-10 minutes. Makes about 12 dozen cookies.
These are a memory from my past, and they are soooooo good LOL. They come out crisp and kinda melt in the mouth.

It is my Great Grandma's (actually Her MIL's) recipe.
