I just happened to look at my checkout sheet today and the nurse noted that there was +3 Glu in my urine. I'm going to assume this is glucose. Is +3 high? I've never had issues before and due to other medical reasons I'm not able to take a GTT when it comes time for that. I had just drank a smoothie before my appointment, I just looked up the nutrition and it has 69 grams of sugar Could that have been the culprit?

I don't know personally but looked it up and it seems like a small amount can be normal in pregnancy and what you eat or drink does affect it so it could be the smoothie. From what I've read, if it's elevated at multiple tests, then they might want further testing. Not sure what they'd do if you can't do glucose test though but they will let you know if it's something to worry about.

I have no idea. I didn't know they looked for glucose in your urine. My dr is always looking for proteins in my urine but they have never mentioned glucose. I'm sure if it was a problem they would have talked to you more about it.

I the UK if you have glucose in urine it could be a sign of gd. We don't do the test you do where you drink that drink. The midwife just tests urine. Then if you have glucose in urine then they do more tests. I would definitely ask about it.

+3 is really low. But it just means you ingested more sugar than you needed and had to "waste" it. Drs aren't usually concerned unless it is consistently over 50.

3+ sounds like a dipstick result, and not a microscopic where they actually quantify the glucose. It dosent mean much unless you were fasting!!

Yes it would have been a quick dipstick. I'm going to chalk it up to the giant smoothie. Neither the nurse or the OB mentioned it so I don't think it's anything to be concerned about yet.

Are you choosing another method for GD screening? I will be using a glucometer at home for 2 weeks instead of the standard glucose drink.

Did you mean me ? Doing another screening test for gd? we just get our urine dipped each time we go to see midwife. If the find glucose in urine then they do a blood test to check. I've never done the drink 3 hour test.
