With the current conversations going on here I was just wondering how many of us here were actually TTC or just found themselves here by accident.

*****

I have never had a normal cycle. My OB/GYN had me on birth control after I had come to him for not having a period in 2 years... my, my the ear full I got from him! lol When I told him that me and my husband were considering children he told me that I should just stop taking the birth control and see if the year or so of me taking it had regulated my cycle any. Well, 4 months went by and I had 3 cycles. 2 of which were in the same month. So no, birth control had done nothing but keep me regular while taking it.

He put me on clomid and I took one full round. About a week later I encountered a nausea that just wouldn't go away. I knew I couldn't be pregnant because I had taken a pregnancy test before I took the clomid because taking clomid while pregnant is a big no-no. Well I took another just to make sure and sure enough, the test was negative. I scheduled an appointment with my regular doctor and he told me to forget what the over the counter tests were saying because I was in fact pregnant.

Well that completely blindsided me and I started to panic over the news as I knew time frame wise there was no way the clomid had anything to do with me being pregnant and that meant that I had taken an X-drug during those critical first few weeks. My OB/GYN didn't seem too worried about it though and told me not to worry either. No issues have popped up so far... so here's hoping!

This is why I consider our LO to have been semi-planned.

*****

So what about you guys?

Well, we were kind if in the deciding phase of having a 5th or not. I was leaning towards yes, and we had discussed when we'd start trying if I still felt I'd like another by then. I found out I was pregnant during the deciding phase. So I'd say planned, but not quite timing wise

This baby wasn't really planned it a surprise. We had decided to start ttc this month, Sept lol. We decided to not use protection on our honeymoon, didn't think it would happen but it did. So, not planned, surprised is happened so fast but also not really a surprise because we weren't safe.

I used pre-seed with our DD after we had been ttc for 2 yrs with no luck. Got pregnant with her on our last tube of it lol. Which was lucky for us because we were about to start fertility testing if it didn't work on that last try. That stuff is great!

We were ttc. It was our 3rd cycle I believe. We actually ended up conceiving on our anniversary according to my charts. We thought we were done but another sounded do-able for us lol.

I voted oopsie. We definitely werent done, the timing just wasnt great lol. Before we conceived this time around, we knew we wanted another one or two in the future. I probably would be happier this time around if I had another year. DD will be two when this one is born and I'm worried how she'll take this change in her life.

We were thinking of maybe having another, when Alex was around 4. This baby was a oopsie. A half asleep fumble in the middle of the night dtd. After I was like I ll just get the morning after pill. Then a couple of hours later when I got out of bed I said to dh, I'm not due to ovulate for another 4 days and the morning after pill makes me feel lousy did he mind if I didn't get it. Dh was like ye it ll be fine. I wanted to do some things I had read online to sway for a baby girl but hadn't had the chance. So I took calcium, downed a glass of milk, took sudafed, cranberry, folic acid and magnesium just in case. And did that until after ovulation.I got to 7dpo and I just knew I was pregnant! It took dh a couple of days to get used to the idea. But it's worked out well!

Planned. Very, very planned. In fact this was my first round of clomid after an HSG, which was normal. I fully expected it to not work. I wasn't ovulating so my cycles were never shorter than 60 days.

Very planned. We had been trying for almost a year since our last m/c. Used preseed and took bromelain tablets until 6 dpo. It worked!!!!

We were planning to start REALLY trying once I recouped from gallbladder surgery, found out I was pregnant a week after surgery. We were not using any type of prevention though so kind of an oopsie in that it happened sooner than we planned.

Planned. We had gotten insurance sorted and were so, so ready to try. Well, I got off birth control, ovulated 2 and a half weeks later and what do ya know...pregnant! I think we were both shocked it happened so quickly but thrilled nonetheless

We were definitely trying. But we were having a more relaxed cycle -- just DTD whenever we felt like it.

I honestly didn't think we'd get pregnant that cycle -- we were wondering if DH had a low sperm count and were planning on doing a SA the next cycle. Apparently, though, we didn't need to do that! Everything is good!

So yes, planned... but still a great surprise.

With our first one we were ntnp, so she wasn't really a surprise. But, we were going to wait until she was 4 to even talk about if we wanted a second one. Well, plans don't always stand up to life. So this one was most definitely not planned.

Very planned. We tried for 11 months in all. In January I started seeing a fertility specialist who diagnosed me with PCOS and my husband with low morphology. So tried the meds route, which worked on the third and final month we tried it. My doctor had said IUI would've been next. Glad we were spared the expense of that since my insurance didn't cover any of my treatments.

I voted planned, though we didn't really try.

We got married late April and figured we would just leave it for when it was supposed to happen. We thought it would take a few months to get pregnant. But we got pregnant in 2 weeks.

this was a planned BUT we thought that we wouldn't get pregnant so fast.. we were thinking that since our first took 3 years to conceive it would take a while to get our second..

VERY planned! TTC since our son, so 7 years of TTC. We have male factor infertility and I have hypothyroidism and low ovarian reserve. 5 failed IUI's 2 HSG's and many rounds of clomid. My husband changed jobs so we could get infertility coverage and we had one round of covered IVF. THANK GOD it worked!!! IVF #1 = Success! I still can't believe it!

Im diganosed as infertile, so yeah, not planned. First one was a shock cause I got pregnant with her 6 weeks after I was told I was going to need drugs to get pregnant. I guess two pregnancies in 8 years isnt enough for BC, doubt I'll ever use it
