Okay... I really wish I could have put this in the private forum, but here we go.

What exactly happens with baby when you orgasm? I have the uterus/belly tightening. I'm wondering what baby feels? Does it squeeze them? What will happen in later pregnancy? Will baby be more active afterwards?

Thanks in advance for anyone who is brave enough to explain this to me.

Right now the same thing happens to me. Belly tightening and stuff. I have no idea what the baby feels. When I was pregnant with my dd I had been having contractions for weeks with little progress. So I finally decided to try dtd. Tmi but it was pretty wild and crazy and I orgasmed and then 20 minutes later my water broke and I started having crazy contractions. She was born 3 hours later on her due date so I'm convinced that later on in pregnancy orgasms can help with contractions. Or it could have been luck lol. Hope that helps!

When you orgasm your uterus contracts, so the tightening is normal. I've always heard that baby can feel a slight tightening During an orgasm. Also, some babies will be more awake after sex, some babies fall asleep after sex because its thought that the movements soothe them. My first stopped moving for a while everytine we dtd. More awake or more sleepy, both are normal. Either way, orgasm in a healthy pregnancy is safe.

Some little ones do get more active after, some don't. I'm not sure there's really a way to know what baby feels but it does help with blood flow and is known to induce labor and/or contractions and so can nipple stimulation.
With ds he got super active after, I was also 30 or so weeks when dh got home from overseas so I don't know how early it can start. I also had some irregular contractions which can be helped with left side laying and downing some cool water.
I hope that helps a little

I dont belive anything really happens to baby their pretty well padded i mean their suspended in amniotic fluid so i guess they whould just slosh around a little lol. I think it mostly just effects us causeing contrations ect and if our bodies are ready (or under the impresion there ready) labor. that whould be a fun one to ask our doctors and see wat tey say although I cant becuse im not allowed to orgasm so If I brought it up id just get lectured.

From what I've read and been told (by my OB while pregnant with DD), sex during a healthy pregnancy is fine and won't cause labor unless you're at the end and your body is ready to give birth. Obviously, if you're on bed/pelvic rest, avoid it, but if you're healthy, its fine.

I read somewhere (I'm not sure how true this is) how endorphins (the chemical responsible for good moods and general feelings of well being) when released into your system by any fun or exciting experiences go through the placenta and make baby happy, too. If that's true, anything that makes you happy benefits baby, too.

I'm gonna google and see if I can find more about this endorphins and baby topic. I'll post links to my findings here.

This is also what I've read/been told.

This is partly true. When you have an orgasm (and a few other times, including child birth and nipple stimulation) releases a hormone called oxytocin. That is what is making your uterus contract. Oxytocin is the "love hormone" and also responsible for why baby is SO alert and awake after birth.

It's healthy for the baby!

I agree with the above ladies I don't think it hurts the baby at all and I don't think the baby can really feel the orgasm. Baby is usually more alert and active afterwards though.

Don't be embarrased, everyone wonders these things, you were just brave enough to ask.

I think melaniek85 gave the best answer and I totally agree. Baby may feel some tightening but it certainly doesn't hurt the baby. Its common to get cramps after you orgasm too, it happens about half the time with me. Later on in pregnancy I usually swell down there too after sex.

This is my fourth child so in all previous ones, baby is quiet during sex, I never feel movement. Shortly afterwards I do though, as orgasm tends to wake the baby.
