Never having a baby....Id like to have some time before the baby comes in which I'm not working....just to (try) to relax, get things ready, center myself, ect.

Good idea? Id leave my job after New Year.

I did that before my first one was born. I really enjoyed having the time to putter around, and put things away, and have everything perfect. It was nice to rest, or go out to lunch or do just what I wanted before my daughter came along. I loved it.

If you can afford it then it is a great idea. Gives you time to rest, nest and get everything ready before the baby gets here. We could never afford it so I worked up until the day before both my babies were born.

I think it's a great idea. I stopped working at 20 weeks with my first. It was great having the time off before baby was born. I relaxed, slept in, got massages every two weeks, my dh and I got to go on dates and I was able to clean and organize everything in the house. If you can afford it, it's great.

I can afford it. I could quit today if I wanted....I don't know what I would do all day though lol I'm due Feb 17th so if my last day was Jan 9th I'm still over a month out (IF I go to my due date!!!)

I'm planning to take some time off. I'm a student so I will keep taking classes this semester, but I'll have the spring semester (Jan--May) off. I may or may not keep nannying depending on my energy level and ability to care for the children. I can't see how it could be bad. You could always catch up on some good novels or tv shows

It might make those agonizing weeks while you are waiting for baby to be born go by really really slow (I was 11 days late and was so impatient!).
But, that's the only negative I can think of! lucky you!!!!

I don't think time off is a bad idea at all! Gives you time to get all the last minute stuff together and focus a little on you because I can assure you there won't be much of that going on after baby is born. :-)

I think its a great idea! I left my job when i was only 24 weeks pregnant with my son, but i was working in child care and getting sick every couple of weeks so I mostly left so early because i was tired of being sick. I don't think you'd regret it.

Take time off! Hit some baby sales, go to the movies in the middle of the day. Sit in the rocker and daydream about holding your baby. It may sound silly but I really wanted to remember my pregnancy as something positive I could share with my daughter and taking some time off at the end would really help you with an oomph of preparedness. It did for me I went down to 2 days a week for about a month before I had my daughter. It was really nice.

I think it's s great idea. But make sure you still say busy, even if its just buying baby things. Because otherwise time could go really slowly.

I agree! Taking time off is a great idea! When you want to leave is up to you, really. Just do what feels right to you. I'm not working myself and haven't in a while as I'm already a stay at home mom. With DD, I quit my job early on because I had started spotting some and after suffering one early miscarriage, that freaked me out. I was advised by my OB and close friends and family that if I can leave and get the stress out of my life, it was in mine and her best interest to do that. I was only about 6 weeks when I worked my last day. I will be honest though, without work hanging over me, I really had no idea what to do with myself lol but quickly got used to not working. I could really enjoy my pregnancy and relax and sleep in, go on dates, all that. It was great!

I'd take some time off before baby come if I thought I wouldn't drive myself completely stir crazy... At least I'll have a baby to occupy me during my maturnity leave. lol

Thanks ladies! I am thinking of leaving either Jan 9th or right after New Years. So that way I will be over a month out, so even if Bean comes a little early I should still have some time. I think I can keep busy....watching trashy tv, taking naps, yoga, baking and eating cookies.....lol

Yes absolutely you want to do that. It's not the same with every child after that. This will be the last time you are alone, just the two of you (or one of you for single moms), enjoy it.
