Today I saw a "3 month old" baby with diarrhea in the ER. It turns out he was born at 24 weeks, and so technically shouldn't even be out of the womb yet! This little guy has survived breathing tubes, head bleeds, heart defects, gastrointestinal problems, just to name a few. He weighed 1.2 kg at birth. When I told the mom I was going to have to send him back to NICU ( he had only been home 5 days), she burst into tears, which made me cry. I cannot imagine what she has been through, and what incredible strength she has. And the baby is a total miracle. Even with all the advances in medicine, I still believe God, love, and prayers can do the most amazing work.
Poor little fellow. These babies are miraculous. I hope every day that when my son arrives he has the fight in him to knock this heart problem on it's butt. He will be a survivor and I will continue to give him nothing but positive energy the whole way there.
It is amzing, and like you said totally a miracle! I have went to the NICU once, just for my own observation while I was on the mother baby unit, and I could not imagine even working there then alone facing that giant as soooo many do. God bless them!
