My birthing story began with a routine ultrasound on 2/12 at the hospital, which was a first for me, I usually go everywhere else but the hospital for my ultrasounds. We went in and the tech began the biophysical and all. She explained everything she was doing and then that's when she said it that it looked like the fluids around the baby were pretty low. So instead of us being able to leave right after the appointment, we were instructed that we had to wait to see what my doctor said. That's when I knew in my head that they were probably going to keep me. We went back to the waiting room and while waiting another couple was waiing to hear from their doctor as well...they were sent home. You could tell they were hoping for the opposite, lol. so about 15-20 minutes passed and another nurse comes in and calls my name and tells me that I have to go L&D...I knew it! I never left the hospital. As soon as I get up there I noticed one of the l&d nurses I had when I was admitted to the ER for the flu. Then the greatest thing happened, the nurse that was assigned to me just happened to be the very nurse that I wanted when I came in to have the baby. We just laughed and hugged when we seen each other. She was the best, all of the were for that matter. She didn't start anything until I finished eating...lol. She said she didn't see anything and gave me time to eat a good little lunch real fast. Got my bags to the hospital by my friend and no sooner I finished eating, the process began. I started out at 3 cm. They started the pitocin, which I refer to as the devil and so far, so good. I made it to about 6 cm and that last upage in dose that she gave me and I tapped out! I needed the epidural like asap...I just couldn't bare the pain no longer and I had no problem admitting to that! I even tried the pain medication they put through your IV and that didn't help at all...I just felt SO high, lol. They said I was talking all kinds of crazy when they gave me that drug. Anywho, received the epidural, which was a chore in a half when those contractions came in the middle of him sticking me, whew! I made it through though. I would say from the point they gave me the epidural, which again, did NOT work, I went from 6 cm to 10 cm in a matter of 5-10 minutes. My doctor almost didn't make it back in my room on time, lol. They proceded to break down the bed etc and before I knew it I had delivered this perfect little angel! She weighed 8 lbs and 8 oz 20 1/2 inches long. I have been blessed yet again! She and I are healthy and home. Sorry for the cut off, but I'm breastfeeding and someone is getting fussy!! Congrats to all and the ones that shared that blizzardest night in with me bringing their baby in the world! CHEEERS!!

Beautiful baby! You are one tough momma for surviving even when the epidural didn't take. Welcome to the world, baby.

She is beautiful. I had my sweet baby boy during the blizzard last Wednesday also. Nobody could get to the hospital to visit us because of all the snow.
