I had a confirmation appt at the ob/gyn, and I had a dating/viability scan done at 7 weeks.

But today is my first real full prenatal visit with the midwife I picked. I'm nervous, but I always am when it comes to new medical people. I hope everything goes well

UPDATE!!

Appointment was pretty fantastic!! AND they decided they wanted their OWN dating ultrasound, so they ended the appt with a quick little look!!

Little bean was measuring 8 weeks 4 days, heartbeat was 186 AND we saw him or her moving!! It was so exciting!

Can you teach me something?? Where I'm from we don't have midwives, it's just the doctor. Buuut I'm moving to Ohio in november...
So, what do midwives do? Should I find one once I move there??

I'm much more comfortable with the whole nurse practioner approach to doctoring, so I find I like midwives better. In my experience, they are less clinical, more warm, spend MUCH more time with you. They go more toward the whole trust your body feeling too. I LOVE science and medicine, and am definitely a scientific leaning person, but I still like the warm friendly approach I got with my midwife vs the doctor.

I also won't see male medical people (i know, i'm odd), and if i'm with a group of midwives, there will always be a woman in charge of my care.

And if you want anything like a home birth, I'm not sure drs go for that?

I don't, i like being in the hospital, just in case, so I picked one that works with the hospital.

Awesome picture of baby! What else did they do for your first prenatal visit? I have mine tomorrow and although I've had 3 other pregnancies I can't remember what all they normally do. I was thinking they do pap too but I just had it done in Feb so I won't need that.
