Now that babies are arriving, what are your plans as far as birth control? After I had kayla, I was on the mini pill while I breast fed. when she was 6 months I switched pills and moved to Alaska. I ran out of pills when we got here and ended up going a few days without before I could be seen and get a refill. Thats all it took for me to get pregnant again. lol

We're pretty sure we're done having kids, and I even considered getting my tubes tied. But since we're unsure when DH will be back, I dont want to have a newborn, a 16 month old, be recovering from delivery and surgery, with no help. So I started looking into other options and I am thinking of doing the Mirena. I looked into the Paraguard too, but with the Paraguard, I've read that periods can be heavier. With the Mirena, I've read a lot of people say they quit getting periods! I like the idea of a long term birth control with the option of having it removed IF we decide we want a third. Its unlikely that will happen, but I like knowing that I have that option available.

So what are you planning?

I was still exclusively breastfeeding and trusting that as natural birth control when Evie was 6 months old. But, i went back to work and started pumping alot, even though still nursing through the evening and night. Thats probably what led to my surprise pregnancy, lol. You can't trust the LAM method if you pump.
We need to slow down the babies now, so i kinda want to try paraguard. I never have or would use hormonal methods, so that one sounds best for us. Im still a little nervous about it, but not as nervous as i would be to have three babies that close together.

Evie is 16 months too.

My mother conceived my little sister with an IUD - she grew around the device and it popped her water at 6 mos. back then they didn't have the tech to save her. My ex and his sibs (5) were all conceived on a different form of BC. I was on the mini pill and breastfeeding (SAHM) when I conceived my 3rd daughter when her older bro was 8 mos old. No BC is foolproof but I definitely would not recommend a tubal - I am 45 and just had no 6 with my fiance (he had no children) and I am so thankful I didn't get my tubes tied at 32 (after no 5). So many women change their minds - reversing a vasectomy is waaay easier than reversing a tubal.

I trust in the mirena. Worked well for me. Period didn't come normal until 9 months after I got it. Cramping sucks with it and DH said he could sometimes feel the wire poke him during sex but never got pregnant and never had a scare with it. Took me five months to get pregnant after having it removed. I recommend it.
