melissaleigh's post about the deal on Motorola video monitor has me wondering how many of you are planning on getting a video monitor system or have used on in the past. is there one you recommend? was it useful?

I'm debating between a video monitor and a regular one. we used the angel care sensor thing with DD but I hated the monitor portion of it, there was so much static we couldn't use it. I saw a video one in use and it was pretty cool but don't know if it is worth the expense.

We had the angel monitor as well and we barely use it, just cause we can hear her fine. We mostly used it if we were outside while she was sleeping. My friend had a video monitor but it would sometimes cross signals and we'd be seeing someone else's baby! That was kinda creepy! There's only been a handful of times Ive thought a video monitor might've come in handy but not often enough for me to spend the $! If I got it as a gift I'd be pretty excited tho lol

We have a summer infant monitor and I LOVE it. I seriously can't imagine what people did before video monitors. Dh accidentally dropped something on the actual monitor, and they were on back order, so we just bought the entire thing again, which gave us an extra camera that we can now use for the baby. And watch both on the same monitor. So it worked out!

We had a monitor for DS, not sure what brand/model it was, but it didn't have video. We ended up not using it because we could hear him from anywhere in the house if he cried anyway, and I was never comfortable leaving the house when he was in bed.

Now that we are in a 2 story place I might want to get a monitor, but we are also in Japan now and they have strict rules about what kids of wireless signals you can send, so most US monitors are not allowed here.

I always liked having a video. I actually do not need one for sound (I've always been able to hear across the hall), but it helps later one when you hear noises you can look and see if they are just restless (aka you do not have to go in a wake them up) or really awake, etc...
