How terrible! I heard about this a little while ago and because of it, DH and I decided to not get a monitor that accesses the internet (or just not use that function).
What is wrong with people??

I read about that a few months ago, and we have decided not get a monitor that can be accessed through the web too. It is scary to think about a stranger being able to see what goes on in the home.

While I think this is a disturbing event I still wouldn't personally let it keep me from getting this type of baby monitor. It's likely that the couple never made their own unique password and the type they were using already had been shown to be more of a security risk. I think if you do your research on which one is the least likely to get hacked (digital vs. analog) and take proper steps to ensure you have it set up as securely as possible the benefits of a video monitor would definitely outweigh the very small risk of a hacker doing this sort of thing.
