Anyone else have to do this soon? I did it first thing in the am since i had to fast for 3 hours ( i read the instructions in my packet).

I did mine last month and my levels were 9 points below the highest they like to see, so I have to repeat the 1 hour....as long as I'm below the highest allowable level again, I'm good.

I will do it at my next appointment. She told me I didn't need to fast beforehand, but not to eat anything real carby or sugary before it. Once I drink the stuff, I can't eat.

Last time, she did it twice for me, around 16 weeks and then again at the normal time. I started the last pregnancy out much heavier than this one. I passed both times and I am really hoping to pass this time as well.

The info on fasting is so confusing. But I do know for the 3 hour test, you do need to fast. That one made me pretty sick. But from what I've heard, it's good to eat a small breakfast high in protein and then a little later, do the drink. I have mine on Dec 13. I failed last time and had to do the 3 hour test. Hopefully I pass the 1 hour and don't have to do that again. Mine is lemon lime flavored. I don't like the drinks at all. I'm glad I can at least drink water afterwards.

I *think* if you fail the 1hr, then you have to do the 3hr. Since I didn't "fail", they're having me do the 1hr again since my numbers were higher than they would like to see...I didn't eat anything before my test at all.....the most I did was brush my teeth. My next appointment isn't until 1pm, I don't think fasting will work out all that well. I get woosey if I don't have something in my stomach for too long.

I won't be taking it...I have dumping syndrom and can't have more then 14 grams of sugar at one time with out getting really sick (fast heart rate, faininting, vomiting....for most people they get diahreah...me I get the pee's....I immediatly have to pee once my episode is over....thank God for the little things...lol).

I had GD with my last two pregnancies....so we went into this one assuming I have it again. I've been testing my blood for a few weeks and my numbers have been great...so my regular OB told me to just test every other week and if my numbers don't fall into any of the *normal* ranges....we will re-address.

I thought the drink tasted just like orange crush (flat though) when I did the test with my other pregnancies.....much better when it's cold=)

I had one at 12 weeks and I'll have another one at my next appointment next month. It was 136 at 12 weeks and the limit for GD is 140 so I'm sure I'll be in for the 4 hour. BUT, I didn't know I was going to be taking it and I had a cereal bar for breakfast and drank some sweet tea before my appointment so that could be why it was so high.

My doctor is another who, if you fail the 1 hour, you do a 3 hour. I don't remember what they told me about fasting for mine - I've got the sheet in my purse and will pull it out when I go in to do the test. I'm doing mine at my 28 week appointment, so just under a month from now.

I have mine in 2 weeks as well. The NP told me to eat breakfast but try to eat protein and avoid carbs/sugar for breakfast that morning. It's the 1 hour test I believe since it's my first one. I'm taking Metformin so I think I should be ok, at least I'm hoping so.

I think I do mine around 28 weeks...no fasting. I have never had a problem with the drink, just not the best tasting.

I've only had a problem with it during my 3 hour test. For that one, you have to fast and my test was at 11:00. And then I only had that super sugary drink in my system and they were taking blood every hour. It was awful. Someone advised me to pack food for when it was over and that was probably the best advice I got. I ate as soon as I had my last blood draw. I'm a little nervous about the test. Last time I nearly failed the 3 hour test (my fasting one was over and another was close) and I'm in the risk factor (having twins, being overweight and my dad has type 2 diabetes).

I had mine done at 16 weeks. I can't remember what the cut off was (think they told me 130) and mine was I think 142? Also my A1C was right at the cutoff they have for pregnant women, so they sent me straight to the specialist and I have to monitor my levels. I don't really have any problems with my levels, as long as I watch my portions, more than anything else.

But I remember doing the 3 hour with my first pregnancy and I was MISERABLE! My test was first thing in the morning, but fasting AND not eating until after 12 is not good for anyone, let alone a pregnant person. I had to go home and just go to bed afterwards (well I ate first of course).
