I went for an ultrasound last week and thought nothing of it. It was to check the placenta and my cervix because a long time ago I had a LEEP procedure for dysplasia and my placenta is low lying.

A few minutes ago my doctors office called and asked if I could make it in for 1:30
The nurse could not tell me why.

It's only a few hours til I see her but it's driving me crazy. I literally feel sick to my stomach. I'm so worried right now

I hate that they left me hanging like this! Not nice.

Thanks. Not knowing is killing me. I *think* it might be about the cervix but not sure. Watching the clock until I can go find out :/

Wish they would have told me..not left me hanging like this.

I am officially flipping out now. Apparently one of the measurements they do my result was the "upper range of normal". This has to do with fluid on the brain..something called hydrocephalus. Although my number of 9 was still considered normal it's high enough where they are sending me for a fancy ultrasound downtown. They are doing the referral today and I should get in within a few days. They will do this detailed ultrasound and then I'll meet with a specialist to discuss the results.

I'm in shock. I'm scared beyond belief. I went (like an idiot) and googled fetal hyracephalus and am downright terrified. Brain surgeries, shunts.. I can't handle this. I'm trying not to flip out. I'm praying for a good outcome and NO hydrocephalus whatsoever. I kept it together pretty good when I was in the office..I think shock kept me from falling apart then and there but I can't stop bawling now. I haven't even called dh yet. I know he's going to be a basketcase worrying just like I am right now.

Praying, praying, praying it's nothing and everything is normal. Now I get to spend the next few days worrying like crazy. I'm hoping they get me in quick for this ultrasound. Worrying is going to drive me nuts!!!!

God I pray your right Thea. She did say she likes to play it safe and that's why she's doing this referral to make sure there's no hydrocephalus. I just can't help being scared senseless. If it wasn't something so devastating they're wanting to rule out I think I'd be in better shape. I've vomited three times now. I suffer from anxiety attacks and my stomach is always the first to go. I'm so scared. Trying to think positive but it's **** hard to stay calm given what's on the line.

I know it's really hard to have to worry for a few days (I would be too, so I'm not going to try to talk you out of worrying) but I think they key words are "still in the range of normal"

I know it's little consolation, and I'm sorry. I really hope you will feel better soon and are able to get through the next few days.

And of course I REALLY hope everything in the second ultrasound goes very smoothly and everything turns out perfectly normal.

I know exactly how you feel! I was told a few weeks ago there was practically no amniotic fluid and they got me into the specialist within hours. Especially after googling it I was sick. There was no possible good outcome.

But the better equipment at the specialist revealed everything to be fine. They told me there was plenty of fluid and the reason the first place couldn't see any was because their transducer couldn't penetrate muscle well so they couldn't get a good view of anything.

I'm hoping and praying it's the same kind of outcome for you. I know how hard this is!!!

Big hugs!! That is scary to hear. I have a friend who was in a similar situation. Her baby's head was measuring large and they had her convinced through most of the pregnancy that he had hydrocephalus. But he didn't and he his normal and healthy. On the other hand, my aunt gave birth to a girl with a severe case of it. She (the baby) is now almost 15 years old. Take a deep breath and wait to get confirmation or at least some answers from the specialist. Stop looking at the internet right now. Its way too scary!! My prayers are with you. Please keep us posted!!!
