Not ready...still have to get Noelle's layaway and wrap her stuff. I think what I'm going to do tomorrow is use one of the motor scooters (I don't know what they're called) and pick her stuff up, so I won't have to physically walk around Walmart.
I got an email from Target today that my uncle's gift has shipped, so that should be here in the next couple of days.
I haven't shipped my grandparent's gifts, although they're finished now. What I really need is for my sis to come and run some errands for me. It has been accepted that I will not be contributing to Christmas dinner this year either. I'm guessing it's ok for me to go to dinner at my aunt's though. Of course I'll ask on Monday at my appointment.
Most of the kids' Christmas gifts will be arriving via UPS in the next few days/week, then I'll need to wrap them. DH is already taken care of and my MIL is making a huge deal about not wanting us to spend money on them this year so we're doing homemade cookies and such in adorable little reusable tins. I need to think of something to send my dad still and get it sent since we won't be seeing them this year.. And I need to pick up stocking stuffers.. Then, I believe that will be it!
Dh's family draws names and so does mine. We've done it this way for about 3 years now....just for the sake of money is a lil tight. We also do a secret santa game at his aunts house. So I still need to buy for 2 people and DH hasnt even started. He waits until like the 23rd.....
What is a "white elephant" gift? I've seen this expression used on FB when referring to a fruit cake.
It's usually a gender neutral gift under a designated amount ($15 or whatever) that you bring to a gift exchange. Each person brings a gift and draws a number. The first person opens a gift. The 2nd can either steal the first person's gift or open a new gift. And so it goes. The last person gets to steal any gift they want or open the last present. It's pretty fun! There are usually some other rules too, like a gift can only be stolen 3 times and then it's 'locked', and no steal backs from the person who just stole from you.
ETA: Some of these types of gift exchanges allow 'used' gifts where someone brings something they already own. I don't think those are as fun personally b/c you end up leaving with junk even if you brought something nice.
