Saturday May 12th My mom called to see if they could come and take me out to lunch the next day for Mother’s day. I was very cranky and having a hard time with Madison so my mom offered to take her for the night. I drove to meet with my mom and did a little shopping. I drove back home sat on the exersize ball and went on a walk with my husband. About 8pm I was unable to sit down and in a little bit of pain so I took a 2 hour bath. The bath seemed to help and I went to bed about 11pm. 1:30 am I shot out of bed in pain and went to the bathroom then tried to lay back down in bed and just couldn’t. I started to think maybe I was having contractions so I started to time things. Wouldn’t you know the pains I was having were coming every 3-4 minutes. I timed them until about 3:00am when they were every 2-3 minutes and decided I better call my doula.
My doula Stacey got here about 4:00am and my contractions were almost 1 minute apart. Stacey said we better call the hospital now. By the time we called the DR office and Hospital and got into the car it was 4:35. At this point my contractions were right on top of each other and all I could do was hang onto the handle in the car. John dropped me off at the front door and I did not even make it all the way in before I had to hang onto the wall with another contraction. A couple hospital staff came running with a wheel chair and took me right to triage to get checked in. By the time I got to triage (4:50am) I was ready to climb out of that wheel chair and only wanted to stand. They had me lay down to check my cervix and the nurse said I was a good 7/8 with a bulging bag of water. I stood back up and the nurse checked the baby’s heart rate. During this time they were trying to get a Family Beginnings room (the birth center) ready for me but all the sudden my water broke and I yelled out “omg My water Broke”. I was then asked if I felt the urge to push and I said I did not know. Just then my body just spontaneously bared down. I did not have to be told to push or try my body was just doing it on its own.
With no time to waste they got me on the bed and wheeled me to a regular labor & delivery room. When we got to the room they asked me to move beds and it was like I was paralyzed my brain was saying move but my body just didn’t want to. But I finally got moved over. As soon as I got moved I started pushing and about 15 minutes later Bryson was born.
Sunday May 13th 5:34am 7 pounds 10oz -20 inches long - head 13 in
I am so happy I got my natural birth but sad because it was not where I wanted to be and then they made me go to the regular ward when I should have been in the birth center. I keep asking to leave until they finally let me go home the next afternoon.
I grabbed a wash cloth while at home laboring in the bathroom. It felt good to put it on my face and I felt it helped make the moaning noises not as loud....lol
