I try to keep her in the shade as much as possible and just let her out in the direct sunshine for short periods .. If there's some reason she has to be in the sun for a while (hasn't come up yet, but if it does) I'll use a small amount of sunscreen and a sunhat
We are pretty high up in the Canadian Rockies so we haven't had a lot of warm sunny days yet (in fact I drove through snow this morning) but we will keep to either a sun hat or the shade until Anden is old enough for sunscreen. By then it might be snowing again here......
So far we have stayed in the shade but I do plan to take her to the pool sometime soon. We got her a rash guard shirt with regular bottoms and we plan to put a hat on her. We'll only bring her in the sun for a few minutes but I want to see how she likes the water.
First Time Mommy to Tatum Elaine born March 10th, 2012. 8 lbs, 9 oz, 21 inches long
For short exposures I just take them out. For longer ones I try to keep them in the shade, I bought one of these for the backyard, park and beach trips Sun Smarties Family Beach Cabana Tent - One Step Ahead Baby. I use bucket hats, and if they're swimming they have rash guards on. We are going to the beach for a week soon, and I'm going to check with the pedi at they're 4 month check on 6/19 to see if a little sunscreen will be ok while we're away.
