Hey ladies! So it's been a while since I've been on jm (since I was on mat leave with my daughter 2 years ago). But I've just started having a couple min to myself so I thought I'd come say hello

And see if anyone had any pumping advice! I was able to pump so easy with dd but this time around it's just a hassle. The most I can get in a really good pump is 3 oz. On average it's like a half to 1 oz. I don't think I have supply issues bc my little man is growing out of all his clothes and a nice set of rolls and I'm using a medella electric pump I just don't know what's going on. I ebf my dd but I'm so tempted to give ds a bottle of formula when I have to go out and cant take him with me :/

Thanks for listening!!!

Maybe check the breastfeeding forum?

Also, the amount you are pumping is not a good indicator of how much milk you produce. Some women can pump a lot, others not so much. It can also vary between pregnancies.

Maybe a LC could give you some tips that could help you. Good luck

I would talk to a lactation consultant and see if they can give you any good tips or ways to increase. Also make sure (if you haven't already) that you are using the right size flanges, that can make a difference.

I couldn't pump for beans last time; I would get a LOAD of milk the first session after nursing, but then I'd be lucky to get an ounce or two. I could ebf just fine too and he was growing well, it was only pumping that sucked. I was never able to figure anything out though, and while my son was at daycare, he'd get one bottle of breastmilk and then formula the rest of the time.

When I pump I have to pump for a long time, because of that.. I have realized that I get two let downs, so maybe you can too, what I do is I wait about 2 or 3 mins after my first let down and I will get another one. sometimes it takes me about 20-25 mins before I'm done but I do get all of it, it just takes forever.

I nurse in the morning and sometimes before bed, otherwise I expressly pump. I pump before I nurse and I get so much more. Since I'm clockwork with my pumping sessions my supply has held up just fine. I get up every morning at 5am to beat Mia up and I can get a lot more than if she beats me up. Oatmeal helps my supply if I'm noticing less through a day. For some reason it takes me only 5 minutes to pump which is why I have the patience to stick with this.
