Do you have any plans to celebrate the 4th (Americans) or 1st (Canadians)? Parades, fireworks, anything else neat?

...am I the only one who, every night when folks start setting off fireworks, glares out the window and vows to punch anyone who wakes their baby up?

Being in Quebec, we mostly celebrate the St-Jean, which was the 24th of june. Canada day isn't super popular around here, but much appreciated as it's a paid holiday

As for fireworks, it's illegal to use them in the city so it isn't a problem. Anyways, Merrik sleeps so hard that nothing seems to be able to rouse him; after we had a sewer backup in our basement, we had to tear out everything and he slept right through the demolition.

If only he could sleep like that during the day...

I dread the 4th... hubby works nights & when the fireworks start going off he can't sleep... plus the kids are in bed before dark... the city passed an ordinance this year stating that no one can have personal fireworks in the city... last year some kids shot a roman candle at a kid they didn't even know & knicked his femoral artery... he almost died... I doubt anyone will obey the law though... cops have made it clear on their fb that they will be out enforcing & fining if necessary.

I'm jealous - I wish they would ban fireworks in the city limits! Every year there is a story like that, Sarai, and it breaks my heart. Our neighbors right behind us do a lot of fireworks and have their 6 year old actively helping with them all... They invite Eric, and I'm like - omg, no.

The fireworks...ugh....I am mega-dreading them for Canada Day tonight. They are far from illegal here.

I don't have to worry about them waking Paige because we don't live in town. I love fireworks but we won't be doing any this year. We haven't had any rain, it's been so dry and windy. Yesterday there were fires north of us and I heard that Halsey forest which isn't too far from us is burning. So no fireworks this year I guess.
