I typically wouldn't have given a birth story, but since it happened so fast.. not a whole lot to really say lol!
I went to my appointment on Tuesday, my BP was still up.. so she said we can schedule an induction for Thursday.. Thursday they were booked, which worked for us because my friend had a very important appointment that day.. so I semi jokingly told her "well you can break my water right now, i wont mind walking out of here looking like I peed my pants" thank God she didn't take me literally! She said well we can do it today if you'd like.. of course I said yes.. I ran home, got the kids ready and taken care of, got myself and DH ready, all that alone took 2 hours to do. I showed up to the hospital at a little after 2pm, they wanted to just put me on pitocen, but i asked to just break my water and see how that does.. i still wanted it as natural as possible.. but not as natural as it ended up being lol... i was a full 5cm when my water was broken. i immediately started having contrax every 3-5 mins, and they only got more intense and closer together.. 2 hours later, at 5pm.. i was feeling a lot of pressure, i was beginning to beg for the epidural but it was going so quick, they couldn't get my blood draw done and down to the lab fast enough for me to even get home.. I started feeling pressure they checked and i was about 8-9cm.. i was begging for SOMETHING but they couldn't give me anything because they just werent prepared for it to happen so quickly.. so here comes the ring of fire (crowning) and the OB was at the nurses desk because she was called when I hit 7cm, which was about an hour and a half after water breaking, that's when we knew it was going to be quick. I started to push by instinct where the nurse told me it was okay to do, just to do it lightly.. well anyone who has had no meds, will know that's VERY hard to resist lol.. So i ended up pushing harder and they grabbed the OB, she ran in.. barely got her gloves on before he came flying out. only 10 mins of pushing but it was the most terrible pain ever!!.. The nurses were really impressed because the whole time i was sitting there with a good attitude, joking around with everyone, and even down to the very end!.. I've never been a screamer or yeller when it came to pain.. and I guess they were expecting me to especially with it being unmedicated lol.
So, Dexter Levi Hendrik came into the world at 6:01pm weighing 7lbs8oz and is 20.5 inches long! He has been GREAT at breastfeeding, though i HATE it.. it's extremely uncomfortable to me with how sore they get.. the nurses and lactation specialist said everything is right, his latch his fine.. it's just my nipples are ultrasensitive so its going to take some time getting used to.. but not sure how much I can take of it! I have already had to give him a bottle to give my nipples a little relief and a break. but otherwise hes a really good feeder, he's gulps down the crap out of my colostrum!
