And not pregger symptoms! I am stuffed up, constant nose tickle, sneezing, sore throat, drainage. I've had a sore throat for like 3 weeks. A month or two ago I had 2 bouts of strep in a row, or maybe one that never went away because I had a hard time taking the antibiotic 4 times a day for 10 days.
If this IS just due to pregnancy, which I have a sneaking suspicion of since this throat ache has lasted so long, I'm going to be quite upset. But if I don't get better in a few days a trip to the doctor may be in order. Like I don't already have enough appointments lined up.
Anyone else never gotten completely straight on the procedure for mundane health issues like colds and flu? IF you feel you HAVE to see a doctor but it's not pregnancy related, do you go to your obstretrician or your regular doctor? I haven't had my first visit with my OB yet, either, so I have to take into account that. And I can never get straight whether I SHOULD see my OB for colds and the like, or whether I can see my nurse practitioner, or if it really doesn't matter and maybe I should do it based on cost. In the past, once I'm pregnant I usually see my OB for anything and everything when I feel I MUST see someone, but we are in a really tight spot financially so if it would be cheaper and safe to see the NP, I would do it.
When I went to MedExpress during my first son's pregnancy (because I knew I had a UTI since I'm prone to them and can identify symptoms immediately), they looked panicked when I told them that I was also pregnant, and told me that I needed to see my OB. It's like they were afraid to touch me, lol. I would just call ahead of time. Usually, the reason you need to see your OB instead is so that they can also monitor your baby's health, just to be safe that the cold/flu isn't a strain on the pregnancy.
Yeah, I have to go to primary care for anything like that. If it is something that could be harmful to the pregnancy, then it is good to see the OB. UTIs, Yeast infections, things like that. I hope that you feel better soon. I know that with pregnancy I seem to be stuffy all the time and have a lot more nasal mucous, but I do not get the sore throat.
I've had a cold this past week too. Started with a scratchy throat and led to stuffy nose, cough, etc. It's getting better on it's own now. I got a cold right around 6 weeks with my pregnancy with DS as well. And it always coincides with the start of m/s . Drainage is not fun when you feel like puking anyway!
My allergies have been getting progressively worse every year the last decade. I think that living in southern Illinois is part of the problem. I grew up in central Illinois and always had allergies, but I keep the Claritin going year round now and the last year it doesn't seem to be doing anything and they're worse than ever. I've even had dry eyes since last Fall.
But this is ridiculous. I hope I don't feel like this for the next 8 months
I had a sore throat starting about a week before my bfp and then a week later it turned into a head cold. I've still been stuffy and sneezy (could also be allergies, it's getting to be allergy season for me) since then. Dr's rarely do anything for colds and stuff so I've never even bothered. Unless I had a high fever or something else I just take vitamin C and D and try to ride it out as best I can.
At 10 dpo I suddenly got a horrible runny nose and was sneezing constantly. It's what made me suspect I was pregnant. It continued like that for about 5 days, and then it toned down to a manageable stuffiness that I still have. If yours is pregnancy related, I hope the worst of it is similarly short lived!
My doctor always has me call in and tell her nurse my symptoms and then from there will either tell me to come in to see my OBGYN or tell me to see my general practitioner. For things like UTIs they had me come in to see her but I think for a cold they would send me to a GP. But it never hurts to call and ask. I hope you are feeling better soon!!!
Thank you *Kiliki* for the amazing siggy!!
