Yesterday while at the OB, a coworker of DH was there with his wife so we talked until we were called back. They had just switched to the center I go to, and were telling us of what had happened where they had left.
They took blood to check her levels, then instead of waiting a full 48 hours to check them again they had her go in after 30 hours. When those levels weren't where they should be after 48 hours, they told her she was going to lose the baby and nothing could be done. Thankfully she knew to get a second opinion because it didn't seem right. They stood by what they said though even after she pointed out that it hadn't been 48 hours, and that this wasn't her first child.
They also told her that all babies started as boys, but "you get a girl when the penis falls off." WHAT?
It's truly scary that these people are practicing.
I stopped going to that clinic years ago because honestly everyone I saw there was useless. I was going for chronic migraine, and all they could tell me was to get my eyes checked and treated me like I was faking. WHY?! There was no way they were going to have ANYTHING to do with my pregnancy!! I've also heard of far too many still births and complications (for example, babies having broken bones!) at that hospital. Even when I lived in that city, I drove almost an hour across two other counties to avoid those people touching me. I'm so glad they came to the office I'm going to, too, because this place is great!
All babies start out with the same bud that eventually turns into a penis or vagina. Girls and boys have different chromosomes. I mean, we're talking basic Biology 101 here! That is a very scary story. There must be some way to report them to the Medical Board.
