I'm following this site's advice: Stocking Up on Diapers: How Much To Buy & At What Price :: Southern Savers

Mostly I've been following their price suggestions (trying to keep it below that many cents/diaper), but it also gives recommendations on the number of each size you'll want. I'm trying to get different brands in each size too. I'd hate to have 5 boxes of huggies and then find that they don't fit munchkin when s/he gets here.

I follow the forums on slickdeals.net pretty actively, and set up a deal alert for "diapers". I've gotten 4 or 5 different deals in the past 2 months.

As long as you don't open the box, Walmart lets you exchange for a different size.

I'm going to start watching sales and pick up maybe 2-3 boxes of NB, 2-3 boxes of 1s, 2-3 boxes of 2s and like 5 boxes of 3s lol...my son just moved into 4s and he`s been wearing 3s for like 8 months. But I remember going through like 10-12 diapers a day for the first 2 months or so, but he started evening out after that...and maybe goes through 4 in a day now?

I usually stock up especially if I find a deal on the wee bittie newborns, which I usually need for at least a couple weeks. But I wait till a couple months out.

I have no idea how many I needed in each size. I think both of my girls wore NB for almost or at least the first month, and you go through several diapers per day (10-12 or something like that). I'll probably just order a big box of Pampers Swaddlers off Amazon in NB in March and reorder as I need them after baby arrives.

Y'all make me laugh! My DS wore preemie and then newborn for 6 months! Haha. He was 12 lbs at a year old!!! So I think he was 2 or even older before he was out of size 2! He may have even been 3 and still in a 2 when he switched to pull-ups! So I will be completely lost as to how to buy for this little one!!

Today is our 11 week mark and we've only bought 1 box of 180 ct size 1 Pampers Swaddlers. Target had a sale and they came out to $.17 a diaper which is the cheapest I've seen yet. We plan on buying a box either weekly or biweekly once we have the reassurance of our 12wk scan next week.

We're going to do the Diaper Raffle at our shower though, so I'm hoping we'll get a bunch from that too! (Everyone is asked to bring a pack of diapers and for doing so they get a raffle ticket at the shower for a chance to win a $100 gift card, or two $50 gift cards. The prize pays for itself in less than 4 boxes of diapers!)

Another way to save money on diapers is to go to a wholesale store. I go to a local one and they will take as many manufacture's coupons and I have and they have store coupons as well. The huge box of diapers is usually 40 but I usually end up getting it for 25 a box and the box lasts me 3 weeks to a month. I plan on buying 1 box a month until my due date. If I get the wrong size the stores always exchange them without any hassle.

Maybe I'm just naive, but I haven't even THOUGHT about buying diapers yet. For me this is all so surreal to me. I'm a chubby girl, so I was going through your baby bump pictures, and you all have change... for me there is nothing.. I still look like the chubby girl that I was before. Maybe once I start feeling things, and start to feel things tighten up it might become more real for me. I hope that doesn't sound strange....

Not strange at all. I'm a skinny girl, but I still have ZERO change. My clothes all fit, no noticeable/visible change, no real symptoms...it doesn't feel real at all.

I'm a huge planner though, and really try to save money where possible, so buying diapers (that I'm going to have to use, whether I feel preggo right now or not!) seems like a frugal tactic.
