Seriously, last time I was on JM I said I would try to be on more often, and now what have I done? I went MIA for several days again. Feel free to roll your eyes, as long as you don't hurt yourself.
Anyway, Monday I hit 13 weeks (yay!) and today I had an OB checkup. We waited and waited because my Dr was in surgery and the NP and other OB in the office had to pick up her appts I guess. My apointment was at 1:30 and I didn't see the NP until 2:15 or thereabouts. Then it took less than 5 minutes. She came in holding the doppler in her hand. I was already laying back on the exam table becuase my back was tired from sitting up without a little back support (and I was bored so I was pretending I could take a nap). I posted my SIL's video on facebook but I don't know how to post around here, or I'd put it in the subforum for all April '14 JMers to see.
She squeezed the stuff on my belly, which I didn't even notice, plopped the doppler on there and there was the heartbeat. She moved the wand a little so it was louder and clearer, but she had no problems with finding it and when my SIL (thank goodness I take her with me--she helps me remember questions I totally would neglect otherwise) asked what the HB was she said 162. Pretty good strong little heartbeat. At the end I felt something shift. I think she noticed too and we both agreed it could have been just a muscle or something shifting out of the way of the wand with her last movements. But it was a definite shift of something. Very low chance it was the baby moving, since he/she is only about the size of a peach right now. But it would be neat. She said that I'm not too far off from being able to feel movement if I'm really sensitive as early as 14 weeks but usually between 16 and 18 weeks (something I knew).
Besides that I don't know if she said my BP or I zoned at that moment but my weight was 212 lb. About the same as last visit, so I haven't gained. I really haven't felt much change in my body shape except that by the end of the day and when I'm trying to be comfy at night any elastic or anything that is not shaped right hurts on the low abdominal area below my belly button. And I can feel a little more solidness where baby is growing. Other than that, they asked how I had been feeling. Nausea, fatigue, emotional, peeing a lot, and OH YEA no sex drive which is making my husband crazy! They said that sometimes it comes back in the 2nd tri, nothing I didn't already know, but otherwise there isn't anything to do about it while I'm pregnant. I think a date night and my husband not being so insensitive would go a long way though.
This being baby 3 for me, I wasn't concerned about the appointment being so short. I actually was glad to be out of there pretty quickly. And I'm sure she would have taken more time if I really had any concerns or anything we needed to go over together.
