I've noticed this several times now. There's a rhythmic movement that resembles baby's breathing that I can see on my belly. A few weeks ago I wondered if maybe she was sucking her thumb (aggressively lol). Now after seeing her diaphragm in action on sonograms I wonder if she's taking breaths, and this is what I've noticed. I've even heard that babies cry in utero (that's terrible!), but this just seems too patterned to be a cry.

Anybody else?

I just want to see baby in US. SInce last 3 appointments, they are just measuring fundal height and checking hb. But I get the feeling of baby breathing by stomach movements which I am sure not my heartbeat or my inhale exhale.

Her hiccups have more of a "pop" if that makes sense. This is more gentle.

I hope you get to see an U/S soon! So you interpreted this as baby practicing breathing, too?

I suppose anything as possible given how big they are now! That's crazy. I definitely feel hiccups in my bum though, its not gentle at all!

Yeah, I have it too. It's not so much that I can see it, but I can feel it sometimes if I have my hand on my belly. I thought the same thing at first - that it was thumb sucking. But then I decided it felt more like breathing. It's pretty neat!

Yup me! It's not hiccups, they are different. Babies practice breathing in there and I have totally seen it, it's just like if my stomach is moving cus I'm breathing but it's not in line with my breaths! Really neat!

Yep yep yep, Iv'e been saying that for about a week. Def not hiccups, its lots faster and smoother. Hiccups are big and poppy, but I notice the breathing only when im looking at my belly.
