Oh no Those tests have a lot of false positives don't they? Clark's came back positive for spina bifida though he did not have it. My niece's also came back positive for spina bifida and she was clear of it, though she did have IUGR.
Agree with Alicia, those come back with false positives all the time. Besides, a positive doesn't mean s/he has it, just an increased chance. But that STILL means that you have a greater chance of a healthy baby.
With my neice, the tests came back positive for downs, and Emma is perfectly healthy.
My prayers are that it is a false positive. They seem to be, quite often. A friend of Bill's were only a few weeks behind me when I was pregnant with Roald and they got a positive for T-18, but the baby is fine.
My sister is a genetic counselor who does screening tests for a living and she told me when I called that that particular screening test does indeed have a very high false positive rate. She has many, many stories of patients who had a positive test but whose babies did not actually have the condition. I'll be praying for you.
