You think it can only happen once in a life.
But there you are again, feeling your heart split with a knife.
You've lost another child, and it all comes back...
another funeral to plan; another child to lack.
Losing a child means the death of dreams of what could be.
Family trips, pictures, and the people you want them to meet.
It hits you like a wave and it pulls you under.
All you have of your ''new life' is seen when you dream and wonder.
Marshall was a surprise that made us happy--
another child, another blessing, fingers and toes entrapping.
Born too early and very small, his legend lives on
He'll always be #4 and our first born son.
We held our breath as my belly grew with Jonah Michael
Finally we'd have great luck and end the grief cycle
But He decided that Jonah's life was just too precious to be
so we lost our son again and now we pray on bended knee:
Now we lay them down to sleep
We pray the Lord their souls to keep
Now they live with You above
To keep safe, adore, and Love.
I miss you boys!
my thanks to Claire1979 for the awesome siggy!!
I'm a little jealous actually - I used to wrote poetry, and it was good too. But when I started my mood stabilizers, my creativity disappeared (not an uncommon side effect sadly). I write killer non-fiction, but I haven't been able to write a poem in at least 8 years All my sadness is locked inside my head with no good way to get it out except by posting here.
