I am having an anxiety attack I think. It's freaking not even 6am and I'm wide awake. I've been up since 4:30am trying to feel some sort of movement from baby...but nothing. I haven't felt anything concrete since Friday night which is freaking the he!! out of me.

I have my OB app't today at 4pm and I'm driving myself crazy with worry. I know this is just completely awful for baby for me to be stressing out like this, but I don't know what to do. I can't sleep because I worry, I can't stay awake because I worry.

Then I'm going to do this all over again tomorrow morning before the big, detailed u/s.

I just wanted to stay as positive as I could for Sweet Pea, but this stress is taking over my life.

I wasn't feeling much movement at that point with Cameron either. Even though I did feel a good amount of movement at that point with my other 3 kids! So many factors come into play, position of the placenta, direction the baby is facing.

I totally understand your fears though. Do you have a fetal doppler? It might be worth it to rent one for a few months for times like this. It's so reassuring to be able to just do a quick scan over your tummy and find the heartbeat when you get into worry mode.

I think renting a fetal doppler is a great idea. I hope you have a great appt. today and I can't wait to hear great news from your ultrasound tomorrow.

I know it's hard, and I would probably be exactly the same, but just try to stay positive. Think of good happy times every time you start to worry.

It's so hard to just disconnect your brain sometimes. I had that point where you're feeling movement occasionally and sometimes go days without it. I think, aside from the very tail end of the pregnancy, that's the point I stress the most.

I had the no movement anxiety when I was only feeling movement every few days. I personally did not start feeling daily movements until 23 weeks this pregnancy.

But I know it's still stressful. And I pretty much get super nervous and worked up on the same days as my appointments.

thanks ladies

I really want to get a doppler as well and I really think I need one and Jon wants one too...but he's wants me to talk to my Dr. first to see if they're safe? He's worried that over using them could be harmful to baby?

At this point honestly I think the effects from a doppler would be less than the stressing out you're doing (that's not to say that your stressing is doing anything bad, but the effects from a doppler are pretty small). It would be HUGE for your state of mind, I bet. I'm going to get one soon as I'm far enough along.

I'm sorry, it's so so awful feeling that stressed out. I thought I knew it would be hard, but then I got pregnant and it's like the worst fear and anxiety attacks ever.

They say if you limit your use of the doppler to 3 or so times per week there is no danger. Really, even if you use it more the chance of anything happening is extremely slim.

If you ask your doc, be prepared for them to tell you it's not good to get one. They feel many people will pick up the mother's heartrate and not the babies and then will worry if it's too low or will mistake the mothers heartrate for the babies and miss a problem.

Thanks girls!

Everything went well!!!

Baby's heart rate is around 130bpm and I've gained a huge 17lbs since I got pregnant haha! Is 130bpm normal for 18 1/2 weeks? I don't want to have to worry about that...he said anywhere between 120 and 160 is perfectly normal.

I did ask him about the doppler and he kind of laughed. He said they're way too expensive, so I told him you can rent them and he didn't seem to think there was a problem if I wanted to get one and said there's no harm to baby in using it. He just said sometimes it can add extra stress if you don't use it properly and then you don't hear it b/c you're in the wrong spot...like you said, Alicia, but he definitely wasn't against the idea.

Yay!! I am glad it went well. I think that if you can lern to use it properly so it doesn't freak you out it may be a good idea to get one.

Great news! 130bpm is definitely normal...I'm going to guess boy!

I rented one before and it was kinda pricey. I think I paid like $40/month for a digital. I bought one from a girl on here and it's been a huge help. I could probably even lend it to you if you don't mind waiting for it until this little girl gets out! That would save you the cost of buying or renting it.

Glad everything is fine. I bought a doppler off of ebay for about 100 bucks. High quality and I have even seen it at my OBs office. The 100 was so worth it when I was worrying. I still have mine.

All 3 of my babies had heart rates around 135, so that's perfectly normal!

I'm so glad everything went well, and I can't wait to hear about your ultrasound today!!
