I was standing in line at Sam's club. Patrick was hungry and fussy, so I was opening my ginormous box of graham crackers to give him one, when a lady walked up behind me. She had 4 kids, the oldest was 17ish, the youngest maybe 9 or 10. She was trying to get them to stay with her and they were all asking for stuff.

She said "It was so much easier when you guys were their age!" pointing at my kids. Just as Patrick started to wail, she added "well, in a way."

So then I told her my mom had 7 kids and I have no idea how she did it taking us all to the store with her. She agreed, she said her sister has 9 kids.

I said "I'd like maybe 2 more."

She said "Yeah, 4 is a great number."

I said "Yeah, I think so."

But I thought "But it's supposed to be FIVE!"

I wanted to cry all the way home. *sigh*

awww i'm sorry

I often wonder what i'll say when people bring up the fact that I have 4 kids (I hear it all the time)...Will I say that I actually have 5? Ella was #5 to me, she will always be my 5th baby, but will I tell people that, i'm not sure.

I would have felt the exact same way

Sometimes when I just talk about Roald or losing him as if it's just a "normal" topic without any hint of crying afterward I want to cry because I feel so bad for acting so nonchalant about it.

I know what you mean. My mother was talking to Jamie about the new baby and she said, in front of me, "now you'll be a family of 4" and I quickly said "5" and she was like "huh?" I told her I will always include Joey. She never went through birth...she had early miscarriages then adopted me. I think when you go through labor and birth as we all have you can't just pretend that baby never happened...your BODY remembers, even if your mind tries to forget the pain. Even Jamie always counts Joey and talks about Joey when he talks about siblings/future siblings.

I'm sorry. ((hugs)). People keep asking if I'm going to stop now at 2. This SHOULD be my 3rd. Atleast my 3rd.
