I came across the blog today of yet another woman who lost a baby girl named Cora. It's making me angry.

Part of me feels like the name is cursed.

Does anyone know of any LIVING girls named Cora, so that I can feel less like it's my fault for naming her Cora?

I know a 12 yr old girl name Cora. I really like that name. It is so beautiful. I would even want to name a DD that.

There is a girl that joined Dominic's PR about 6 months after I lost my boy and he was of course alive and born the same day.

And counting the woman I knew named Cora and the girl I ran into at the zoo on my birthday, that's 5, and outnumber the angels.

Okay ladies thanks, I feel a bit better now. It was just a kind of shock to get a link to a blog of a loss mommy only to discover it was another Cora.

*sigh* It's like getting hit upside the head.

Awww. DH and I like going to cememteries that have old headstones to look at names and just the pretty old headstones and when we did this in July looking for a good old boy's name I saw TONS of Cora's. But none of them were stillborn babies. All were women. So there was a bunch! Certainly not a curse, a nice name it is.

Yeah, the name was actually super popular in the 1880s and 1890s. Cora was named for Matt's great-grandmother.

It just seemed to me that all the babies given the name recently died. I just don't personally know anyone who is a young child who has the name, so it was frustrating to me.

Wow, I totally understand why you'd be upset! It's a beautiful name.

I understand how you feel. I actually was sort of wondering too, when after joining this board a few more women that had stillbirth after me or around my time had their babies with the same initialls as my Eric Jason - E.J. So I thought maybe it was a bad combination or something. It was just weird.
