Today I am exactly 18 weeks. Last pregnancy when I was exactly 18 weeks I was giving birth to Ethan. I thought today I'd be really upset, in fact we planned our New Orleans vacation to include today to help distract me from all the sad. But I felt okay all day. I wasn't upset at all. Just busy sightseeing. And then . . .

. . . .

I felt the baby move!!!!! I'd had such a busy day of sightseeing with friends and when I laid down to take a nap, there he was, wiggling! And then he started KICKING!! I only felt Ethan once, and I'm not even sure of that (because he had no amniotic fluid he had no room to move so in theory it was unlikely he could have kicked me) and I don't remember what it felt like, so I was really really afraid I wouldn't be able to tell when this baby kicked, but it was unmistakable! I knew him as soon as I felt him! The hotel maid came to clean the room and I wouldn't get out of bed, I wanted to keep feeling him. DH rushed home from the poker tables he was so excited! Baby kicked and wiggled on and off for about an hour, when I finally had to get up to pee.

Ever since we saw this baby at my 17 week scan, healthy and active, with none of the birth defects Ethan had (and with a wing wang) I have been one of those deliriously happy glowing pregnant chicks you read about in magazines, and feeling my son move just put the icing on the cake!!!!!

This post made me tear up. You deserve to be one of those deliriously happy pregnant women. I think your little bean just wanted to give you extra reassurance that all is good today.

What a special special day!!! I often have days when I think "I should have been more sad"...like looking forward to Christmas....I'm not nearly as sad as I though I should be or would be. But I think its wonderful that you had a good day...you certainly deserve it!
