You know how it is. Someone introduces themselves and they have the same name as your baby. "Hi, my name is Cora/Colm/Malachi/Katrina/Ethan . . ." And your heart just stops.

Well, Ethan is a pretty common name, so my heart stops a lot. And then my PR got a new co-host - named EthansMomma. I just knew I was in trouble. Her posts always were a trigger.

But I guess I've made some progress in my grief, because after a few days, she wasn't a reminder, just a co-host.

I feel pretty good about this.

That's great. Eli is a pretty common name too and it always stops me in my tracks when I hear another momma call out Eli when talking to her son.

Cora's becoming increasingly common too. *sigh*

Yeah, I'm proud of you.

Proud of you, that's a biggie. We had our first student named Makenzie at the school this year, I guess 13 years of not having to see another child with the name has been long enough!

That is a huge step, especially when you have to see it when in the PR.

Katrina's not a real common name (especially nowadays) and although I personally don't know any other Katrina's, but funny enough, soooo many people on my facebook have friends named Katrina (I see them responding to my friends' status' or on their photos, etc). It used to trigger something for me (sometimes still does), but for the most part I've been able to deal with it when I see/hear her name.

I know where you're coming from though.

That is really great progress. Colm is such a rare name that other than a few celebrities I have not run into anyone with his name.

Sometimes I wish we had given Matthew a less common name for that exact reason. It's getting a little easier though- my friend's son's name is Matthew and I always ask about him by name and for some reason that's OK, but meeting a random person whose son is Matthew or hearing a parent call out "Matthew" is harder.
