Question -

the dr I met on Friday asked me if I had ever been tested for blood clots because they are known as a reason for some causes of stillbirths. i replied no - she wants me to be tested now just in case and if that is the case to take a low dose asprin the rest of my pregnancy.

anyone else been tested for blood clots or heard this?
this is my 5th pregnancy since Rebecca (2 miscarriages, Ben, logan & now Kaitlin) and no one has told me that before

Since it is a simple blood test, it seems reasonable to get it checked out. I might have a clotting disorder since I have an auto-immune disease. If I get pregnant again I will make sure they test for it just to be safe.

Yes i've been tested for just about every clotting disorder...I have 2 gene mutations of MTHFR and I took Baby aspirin from ovulation till I think I was 9 weeks, then my doctor started me on lovenox 40mg a day...She said they don't always treat it with lovenox, but since i've had 2 later losses both her and the perinatologist thought it was best to start me on lovenox.

I've been tested and I have Factor V Leiden. I was on low dose aspirin from pre-conception until now. I am being treated with Lovenox, too. The doctors don't think that it is the cause of my losses, but with nothing else to go on, I chose to be treated with blood thinners.

I was tested and positive for Hetero MTHFR and Lupus Anticoagulants. I give myself an injection of Lovenox every day during pregnancy.

I also had 2 normal pregnancies and then a stillbirth and 3 miscarriages. My OB said many clotting disorders won't cause problems until you're older as well.

I do believe that being pregnant can effect the accuracy of the test. I believe there is a higher rate of false positives during pregnancy but it shouldn't hurt and a baby aspirin definitely won't hurt.
