Hi ladies,
I joined JM in January and hardly posted! Now I've decided it's time to get to know some of you!
I lost my first daughter Ceilidh to anencephaly in 1994. She was stillborn at 42 weeks. I can't believe that she'll be a teenangel in September, the years seem to have flown by so quickly. I have 4 other children, all born after Ceilidh and they seem to be growing up too quickly for my liking!!
love Yvonne xxx

I have seen you before, but welcome again!

Do you mind if I ask, did you know that she had anencephaly before you lost her?

What was it like, when the doctors gave you your second child after delivery? I'm still trying to wrap my mind around getting to hold a crying wiggling baby...one that's mine.

I found out when I was 17 weeks pregnant that Ceilidh had anencephaly.

When Elijah Mae was born the first thing I asked was "Is she alive?" as she didn't cry straight away, but as soon as I asked she screamed the place down! When the midwife handed her to me I just couldn't believe that she was here and perfectly healthy. It was the most amazing feeling to look at her and have her little scrunched up face look back at me as if to say "Oh, so that's what you look like!" I don't think I put her down for about 6 hours!!

Oh, I can't wait. *sigh* I'm so scared right now, but I keep picturing that in my mind...holding a live baby...it helps.

Fear is an awful thing, but June will soon be here and that screaming baby will soon be wriggling in your arms xxx

Hi, and it is nice to meet you. I lost our sixth baby, second daughter, at 36 weeks last July. Pardon the ignorant question, but how do you pronounce Ceilidh? It is a Celtic name, right?

Welcome and I am so sorry for your loss. How does it feel so many years later? Is the pain still so intense like it was yesterday? I am so happy for you that you have four healthy babies now and I'm glad you decided to post again.

Your childrens names are really beautiful.

It's pronounced 'Kaylay'. It's Gaelic. A Ceilidh is a gathering with traditional music and dancing. A bit like a party really. It's a happy occassion and I wanted Ceilidh to have a happy name.

The pain does lessen through the years, but sometimes it still hits like a bolt out the blue. Especially when you see kids doing stuff that your child should be doing, like first day at school etc. But there are more smiles than tears now. I can remember her kicks happily now, but it takes time. It takes some people months, others years, but eventually the tears don't come as often. People might think your 'getting over it' Yeah right! Who 'gets over' losing a child? You just remember stuff without the tears. There are odd days when I do sob, but I guess that keeps me sane!! Crying is a good release and I guess I'll be doing it until the day I die, even if it's just once a year. I only know that the crying will stop for good when I hold her in my arms again.
