So I go the death certificate for Keelie today....and to my surprise and disbeleif they got her hour of birth wrong. It wasn't a small mess up either. She was born at 0255 and they put 1840. How do you screw something up that badly?? Does anyone have any idea on how to go about getting that fixed??

I don't know, sorry. Can you go to whomever gave you the cert.? Maybe the people who gave it to you can fix it?

I had to have Avery's death certificate fixed.
The people at the funeral home did it...I refused to sign it so they didn't have any choice!
(They had checked the yes box on whether she was pregnant when she died! I was mortified!!!)

Good luck!

On mine they put the wrong amount of weeks, I was very upset they asked me 3 times how far along I was. I think they probably filled it out ahead of time and only with the info they needed to make it leagal.
they put 20 weeks, the last I knew my baby was still alive until 23 weeks. My last Drs, before the u/s was 21 weeks and there was a heart beat.

I fixed it myself on my copy. But make a stink, things like this matter!!

I talked to the funeral home and asked them how and where they had go that time from because it was way off. The lady told me that they had contacted the hospital for the time, but the hospital had never even written down the time of her death so they gave her the time I checked out. Even that is so dumb because I got out before 3pm so the 640pm still makes sense in noooo way. Anyways the lady was really nice about it and is having it fixed for me. I am so DONE with that hospital though and will NEVER go back with after how we were treated and now this. They never even tried to help her. Never picked her up. Left her on the table. Didn't even cut the umbilical cord for 5 minutes....

I soooo relate to this one! I still flip the finger when I drive by the hospital I delivered Avery in!!!
They had decided not to do anything because she was under 26 weeks...so they put her on a table and started to work on me...all the blood was scary! Well, my aunt decided that wasn't the way Avery should leave this world, so she held my darling until she passed away. (When I came out of surgery she was still holding Avery!) She kept singing to Avery.....and I swear I heard Amazing Grace (which I still cannot listen to!) but she swears it was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (hmmm!)

I'm glad the funeral home ppl were nice to you. You've been thru enuff!!!

Hugs!
Dawna

WHAT???

Oh. My. Gosh.

Um, there's a reason that they say 24 weeks is the point of viability...and there have been babies of a younger gestational age that have survived!!!! Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh, I'm so mad!!!!

Avery scored on the APGAR tests, so they determined she was a live birth.
So we got both a birth and death certificate.
That's here in Texas, tho.

Yes, very much alive. She just couldn't breathe because her lungs hadn't developed yet.
I got to hold her for three minutes before my bleeding led to the d/c.
They didn't check her until after I came out of surgery and then pronounced her passing.
I was very worried about my aunt holding her for two hours!!!
My aunt's the only person that understands...nobody else was there.

Thanks for the memories!
Dawna

I realized this was the stillbirth forum after I had already started answering this post.
I don't mean to step on anyones toes!
You see, Avery doesn't fit into any category, so I lurk in different spots.
The ladies on Loss of a Child won't even talk to me because....well, I'm not sure why!
I just know they won't!

I do apologize for any pain caused here.

And I do thank you for letting me tell her story.
We NEVER get to do that in real life. I'm supposed to be "over" it by now!

Hugs!
