Welcome Brandi, I'm Lorraine. I am 34 years old from NJ.
I have Antiphospholipid Syndrome. That is blood clotting disorder that affects the blood flow through the umbilical cord. I found out after going to a high risk doctor 6 months after losing Alexis in 1998. It was a blood test that confirmed it. Actually my mother's best friend is a well known OBGYN in Wisconsin and she actually told me what might have happened and what tests I should ask for when I went to see the high risk doctor. He did those tests and that is exactly what Gloria told me. I was told if I were to have another baby I had to be on baby aspirin and Fragmin (low molecular heperin that doesn't pass through the placenta) shots everyday. I also had to have blood tests every 10-14 days and a sonogram every month. Now it is 2008 and I am a mother of 3 beautiful children. Thanks to this doctor I own him a lot for what he did for me.

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I hate that any of us have found ths part of JM. I wish the best to all of you.

Lorraine: I'm going to try and make this as short as possible. The pathologist found a what they call a placental infartion ( clot) and my ONGYN dr. said that when I go see my coagulation specialist at the end of the month she will tell me all about heparin shots. The way it's looking I will have to have 2 shots per day and a dose of baby aspirin. Tell me how did you do it? I'm scared to death of needles and I just can't imagine having to give myself a shot a day much less 2. But I will do whatever it takes. I'm glad to know there is someone out there that was in the situation I am in and had a success story. Thanks so much for the inspiration. I am terribly sorry about your little angel.

Hugs

LeAnn: I am so sorry about you little boy. Dominic is a beautiful baby boy.

Jaidynsmum: I'm sorry about your little girl Ceilidh.

I meant to put this in my last post. Sorry ladies.

Brandi it is a sad welcome, but these are a great bunch of girls here. I lost my daughter April of 2007 at 27w5d. I later found out that I have 2 blood clotting disorders. I am homozygous for mthfr and also have APS. I am taking BA, 5mg folic acid, and will need Lovenox when I get pregnant again. I have some infertility issues though, it took me 5 years to get pregnant with my Abby and it has been another 8months of ttc since we lost her. There are many success stories with the shots, and I will do whatever it takes to bring home a crying baby. I also know how bittersweet it is to have a reason for why our babies died, it just doesn't seem fair no matter what. I am so sorry for the loss of Emily Louise. That is a beautiful name for a beautiful little girl!
