The reason this is so wonderful takes a little explanation. When we first lost Cora, I decided that I wanted something emerald to represent her. I couldn't find anything I liked here in Rexburg, and it was really frustrating to me. Well, we went camping in Yellowstone, and had dinner one night in Gardiner, MT, just outside the north entrance to the park. I found some earrings that were little hearts with emerald centers. But they weren't regular emeralds, they were Mt. St. Helen's emeralds. The description said that they were made from compressing the ashes of the Mt. St. Helen's explosion, and the natural color was evergreen...the color of the forests that were once on the slopes of the mountain.
It struck me as so beautiful. They represented something beautiful that was lost, and it seemed to fit so well. So we bought them, for $9.
Well, somewhere between Michigan and here, when we were coming home after Christmas, one of my earrings lost it's emerald. I was devastated. I looked at other emerald earrings, but I really wanted some more Mt. St. Helen's emeralds, and I didn't know where I'd ever find some.
Well, he found some. I don't know that I ever articulated it to him. I said I wanted more earrings, but I don't think I ever said they needed to be Mt. St. Helen's emeralds.
He made me cry. It was such a good gift.
Oh, and Erin also received this in the mail:
It says "Loved by an angel."
I think yesterday was all about Cora. It was a great day.
That IS wonderful! =) Ah that's so good to hear, it's touching... I love when men do something amazing that just throws you off guard, especially something so sensitive.
Erin is adorable!!! And the shirt (onesie?) is great, do you know where it was purchased?
