Rebecca, what a tough situation to be in. With my first daughter my NT scan/blood test gave me a 1:12 chance of her having DS. Everyone thinks they know how they would handle situations like this, but until you are in that situation, you really don't know.
I will be doing the NT scan on Monday. The place that does it says I will be charged as an office visit with a $30 copayment, so hopefully that's true! Either way I didn't want to wait til 20 weeks to see our bean.
Thank you all. I like to think that DS carries a little bit of his siblings within him. We haven't told him yet (he knows about his big brother though) and while we initially decided to wait until he was in high school, I've changed my mind and want to tell him now, because he's too young to have an emotional reaction. He would just say 'Okay" and go back to playing.
I won't lie, while we wanted the quad screen and NT for both pregnancies for medical reasons, I was not opposed to the fact that we'd be getting an extra ultrasound! I had so many complications early on with DS that I had 19 ultrasounds that pregnancy. I was basically seeing him every other week. Then 28 weeks hit, and I was doing NSTs twice a week, so my doctor said I'd only get an u/s once a month WHAT?!! Gimme my bi-monthly ultrasounds dammit!
Fun fact: When Katie Holmes got pregnant, Tom Cruise bought an u/s machine so they could see Suri anytime they wanted.
