We will, as we did with DD so we have another u/a at 12 weeks [in 3 weeks] and another blood draw, last time we'll be seeing LO until the gender ultrasound [which is 18 weeks here]

We will also, we have every time. It won't matter the results we just do it for us just to know.

I will be, just because it's offered and there isn't a cost for it. It tests for a couple other disorders as well. I'd just like to know and be prepared or have one less thing to worry about. Because of that I'll have an ultrasound at 9, 10, 11, 15 and 20 weeks. Which is kind of a nice bonus.

I am, my nuchal translucency ultrasound is scheduled for the 31st and the blood test is a week before that for me. I have my next appt with the OB the following day because they get ultrasound reports within a few hours.

Yes. DHs brother has down syndrome and even though "they" say it's not genetic my ob likes to rule it out. If our baby does have DS we need to know because we'll have to travel to deliver in a hospital that is better equipped.

We do the quad screen. For no other reason than to plan ahead for medical care, etc.if something is wrong.

We decided today that we will be doing this test. I'm kind of confused by all of the different tests and when they need to be done.

I'm excited by the newest test that has come out. MaterniT21...I think there is the Harmony test that does the same? It's supposed to be almost as accurate as an amnio for T21, and it's only a blood test! I guess they can do it as early as 10 weeks. This doesn't not give you a risk, it tells you yes/no. Apparently not all insurances cover this.

I had the combo NT U/S blood test with my last pregnancy. Done between 11-13 weeks, give you a risk ratio of your baby having T21, T18 or T13 I believe, possibly some other things as well? When I did this with my first daughter it gave me a 1:12 chance of her having DS. After a CVS I found out all was well...longest waiting period of my life.

Quad is around 16 weeks, gives you a risk for this as well.

For those deciding they may terminate if their baby has one of these conditions, the earlier you know the better.

Because I choose to homebirth we do an anatomical ultrasound just to be sure the baby's birth would be best at home. If the baby's major organ systems look good and the heart as well we feel comfortable birthing at home. I don't do the down syndrome screening.

I'll be having the nuchal translucency ultrasound and the maternit21 test on Oct 23, which coincidentally is husband's birthday. We do want to find out gender as well but that could take up to two weeks after the test.

I have no idea what my insurance will cover, hopefully since I'm AMA the coverage will be a little better? Guess I need to find out! Lol

We won't be doing it. What's the MaterniT21?
